Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Do you remember the least successful survivors? Can you name the first male contestant voted out of the game?

Answer: B.B. Andersen

The first survivor ever to be voted out of the game was Sonja Christopher, she is also the first ever female contestant to be voted out. The first male contestant to be voted out was B.B. Andersen, who was voted out second in "Survivor: Borneo". Peter Harkey from "Survivor: Marquesas" (season 4) was the first male contestant to be voted out first.
2. Here's an amazing fact: 337 people have competed in "Survivor" between seasons 1 and 22! Among these 337 there are a few people who were famous even before appearing on the show, but only one of them tried to hide his true identity. Who?

Answer: Garry Hogeboom

Garry Hogeboom is an ex-NFL player who participated on the 11th season of the show-- "Survivor: Guatemala". Unlike singer Tamara (Taj), coach Jimmy Johnson and Olympic gold medalist Crystal, Gary didn't reveal his true identity and said that he was a landscape architect.
Unfortunately for Garry, fellow contestant Danni Boatwright identified him and revealed his true identity. Garry, however, continued to deny it.
3. Several seasons of "Survivor" took place in various locations. Season 11, for example, took place in Guatemala, where the survivors lived in a real Maya city. Can you name that city?

Answer: Yaxhá

The season was filmed in the Yaxhá-Nakum-Naranjo national park in Guatemala.
Yaxhá was an ancient Maya city which was an important ceremonial center.
4. Many survivors played two seasons, some played three, and one survivor was the first to play an unprecedented four seasons. Who am I talking about?

Answer: Rob Mariano

The answer is Rob Mariano, better known as "Boston Rob". He debuted on "Survivor: Marquesas" and despite finishing tenth he was recognized as one of the best contestants. This was the reason he was invited to participate in "Survivor: All-Stars". In his second season Rob came very close to winning the game, eventually finishing as the runner-up to Amber Brkich, his future wife.

He returned to the game in the twentieth season "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains", which was his worst, as didn't even make it to the jury.

He played his fourth season a year later when he agreed to return once again for "Survivor: Redemption Island", which he finally managed to win. Rupert would go on to appear in four seasons as well, with his appearance in "Blood vs. Water" in 2013.
5. Every "Survivor" fan knows that Michael Skupin was the first contestant to be evacuated. Can you name the second?

Answer: Bruce Kanegai

After Mike Skupin, Bruce Kanegai was next to be evacuated from the game. This happened in season 12 when Bruce was evacuated because of digestion problems. Both Jonathan and Joe were evacuated because of injuries in seasons 16 and 18, respectively. Jenna was never evacuated; she did quit the game in season 8 though.
6. Which survivor said the famous words "I've been bamboozled!"?

Answer: Richard Hatch

Rich said it when he was voted out in season 8-- "Survivor: All-Stars".
7. Many "Survivor" seasons had a theme associated with them. Which of the following was not a theme of one of the seasons.

Answer: Aztec empire

Season 11's theme was the Maya empire, not the Aztec empire.
Season 7 focused on pirates and pirate culture, WWII was the theme of season 10, "Fans vs. Favourites" was the name of season 16.
8. Two "Survivor" finals finished with all the jury members unanimously voting for the same person. Name the two sole survivors.

Answer: Earl and J.T.

Earl Cole and James Thomas (J.T.) won seasons 14 and 18 (respectively) by receiving the votes of all the jury members. While J.T. had only one opponent in the final, Earl beat two!
9. How many people have won the title of "Sole Survivor" from Borneo to Redemption Island?

Answer: Twenty-one

A tricky one. Yes, there were twenty-two seasons between "Borneo" and "Redemption Island", but let's not forget that Sandra Diaz-Twine won the game twice, so we get twenty-one winners in twenty-two seasons of the show.
Also, Rupert Boneham won $1,000,000 for being the most popular contestant of the first eight seasons.
10. "Survivor" has visited many locations and many countries. Season 16, for example, was called "Survivor: Micronesia". In what country's territory it was filmed?

Answer: Palau

Despite it's name the season was filmed in Palau, just like season 10. Micronesia is not only a name of a country, but also a subregion of Oceania that includes other countries like Palau, the Marshall Islands, Nauru and Kiribati.
