Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the pilot episode, Eli kept hearing organ music, and only realized what song it was when George Michael performed it in his living room. What was the name of the song?

Answer: Faith

Although he couldn't remember it at first, the song "Faith" had a special significance for Eli. It was playing during an important milestone in his life involving Beth Keller, the single mother who wanted to retain him to sue a pharmaceutical company for marketing a vaccine which she believed caused her son's autism.

The song was also a fitting choice, as Eli was grappling with the possibility that something divine was responsible for his visions.
2. Eli represented a Mexican couple who sued a produce manufacturer because they believed that the pesticide used on the farm where they worked rendered them sterile. In this episode, he had visions of a boy's choir singing the song "Freedom", and he kept imagining that he was being attacked by something. What was it?

Answer: A bi-plane

Eli kept having visions where he was attacked by a bi-plane swooping down from the sky, which prompted him on one occasion to try to tackle his boss, Jordan Wethersby, to the ground. Eli only figured out the meaning of the vision when he saw a picture of Oscar Ramirez standing next to a bi-plane, which Oscar used on the farm to spray the pesticide in the fields.
3. In "Father Figure", Eli kept having visions of a battle raging around him, which led him to represent a National Guard specialist who was serving in Iraq. What kind of case did he handle for this client?

Answer: Custody battle

Private Swain was embroiled in a custody battle with her ex-husband over their 12-year-old son, Brian. Her case was complicated by the fact that the Court was reluctant to grant sole custody to a parent who was in active military service, and the military would only grant discharges to soldiers in cases of extreme hardship.

The case started to go Private Swain's way after Eli uncovered evidence which suggested that Brian was being physically abused by his father.
4. In "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", Eli kept having visions of a man dressed in a hospital gown, who turned out to be Jake McCann, one of his brother's patients. Why was Jake consulting Dr. Stone?

Answer: He had just woken up from a 5-year coma.

Jake McCann was a former coma patient who woke up to discover that his wife had left him for his best friend, and that she had been awarded his company when she had their marriage annulled. He needed Eli's help to get his old life back, which involved suing the church to overturn the annulment of his marriage.
5. In "One More Try", Eli kept seeing surfers running through his office and imagined that there was a beach in the men's room. Where were his visions telling him to go?

Answer: Hawaii

Eli had defended a motor company who was sued for manufacturing a defective SUV that rolled over in an accident, leaving the driver a paraplegic. The driver had subpoenaed one Stanley Lyme, an engineer who worked for Eli's client but who went missing just before the case went to trial. Eli wanted to do the right thing by finding the engineer to discover what he knew about the case.

He eventually found Stanley Lyme in Molokai, Hawaii.
6. When Eli kept imagining being rained on, his next vision was of his boss, Jordan Wethersby, singing "Who'll Stop the Rain" to him, which possibly indicated that his boss would help him in some way. What did Mr. Wethersby do for Eli in this episode?

Answer: He represented Eli at his disbarment hearing.

After Eli broke into song in the middle of a trial in the previous episode, the client he was representing filed a grievance with the California State Bar Association claiming that Eli was unfit to practice law. Mr. Wethersby was persuaded by his daughter to represent Eli at his disbarment hearing, going up against a prosecutor named Holly Rains, which explained both the song in Eli's vision, and the identity of the singer.
7. In "Heal the Pain", Eli's visions led him to represent a 15-year-old boy who wanted to launch a medical malpractice suit in respect of the death of his mother at the hands of one Dr. Agon. What did Eli see in his visions during this episode?

Answer: A fire-breathing dragon

When Peter Johnson's mother checked into the hospital for minor hernia surgery, no one predicted that she would suffer an extreme and fatal reaction to the anesthesia used during her operation after the anesthesiologist failed to check her chart properly. The negligent doctor was named "Dr. Agon", so it wasn't too much of a stretch that Eli's visions had him being attacked by a dragon.
8. Eli was in the bathroom shaving, when he had a vision of a terrible natural disaster hitting San Francisco. What was it?

Answer: An earthquake

In "Praying for Time", Eli was defending a property developer who wanted to evict the residents of Silver Terrace and build a shopping mall on its site. Eli never liked to lose a case, but his desire to win this particular one became even more urgent when he realized that his visions seemed to be telling him that Silver Terrace was going to be the epicenter of a 6.5 earthquake.
9. In "Patience", Eli had a vision where it was 2018, and a man named David Mosley was addressing hundreds of people, many of whom were chanting and holding up signs proclaiming a simple phrase. What was the phrase?

Answer: Live Brave

Back in the present, David Mosley was a prisoner who was being ill-treated and oppressed at the hands of a vindictive warden. Mosley had dared to challenge the warden's authority by leading a hunger strike to protest the poor living conditions in the prison. Eli commenced a class action suit on behalf of all the mistreated prisoners to expose the warden for his cruel ways.

When Eli visited Mosley for the first time in prison, Mosley said to him, "People got to stand up for what they believe in, Mr. Stone. We've got to live brave."
10. In the season finale, Eli underwent risky brain surgery to remove his aneurysm and came face to face with God. Who played God?

Answer: George Michael

"God" looked an awful lot like George Michael, and proceeded to perform the musical number "Feeling Good" with the rest of the cast. Prior to the season finale, George Michael had made three other appearances as himself in the show that season - in the visions in the pilot episode, during one of his concerts in the seventh episode, and as a client in the ninth episode. Greg Berlanti, the co-creator of the show, was reportedly a fan of George Michael, and he successfully procured Michael's involvement in the first season of the show. Every episode in the first season was named after a George Michael song.

The other answers were other guest stars in the season finale.
