Though she is often referred to just as "Daisy", the character's full name is Princess Daisy. She is perhaps overshadowed by the better-known Princess Peach, the pink-wearing and blond-haired ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. Besides Peach and Daisy, Rosalina is regarded as the third famous princess of the "Mario" universe.

Daisy is known for her distinctive dress that has two different shades of yellow, and for her affection for flowers. The princess wears a white and green-colored flower in the center of her dress, and also wears flower-shaped earrings. Her outfit is complete with red heels, white gloves, and of course, a golden crown.

The "Super Mario" video game series has its origin in the classic "Super Mario Bros." game, which was first released by Nintendo in 1985. The game, as many of the "Mario" games do, took place in the Mushroom Kingdom, ruled by Princess Peach. The fifth game in the "Super Mario" series, titled "Super Mario Land", was first released in 1989 in Japan, and shortly afterwards in the U.S. for the Game Boy console.

The game was unique in that it was set in Sarasaland, and the premise was that Mario had to rescue Princess Daisy from the space monster Tatanga.

"Mario Power Tennis" was released in 2004 for the GameCube console. The game was yet another iteration of Nintendo's take on tennis, preceded by "Mario Tennis" for Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color. Unsurprisingly, the premise of this video game involved the beloved "Super Mario" universe characters playing tennis against each other.

They all had their unique power shots which they would use to defeat their opponents. In Princess Daisy's case, her offensive power shot was the "Wonder Flower", while her defensive power shot was called "Flowerbed Return".

The original "Mario Party" game came out in late 1998 and featured several multi-player mini-games. It would become one of the most well-recognized and prolific series, with many different iterations being released for several consoles throughout the years. Daisy first appeared as a playable character in this franchise in the "Super Mario 3" game, released in the year 2000, though she was only playable in Party Mode. Waluigi also debuted as a playable character in this game.

"Mario Kart" is also a famous series within the Nintendo game universe. The fourth game of the series was "Mario Kart: Double Dash!!", which was unique because it featured two characters in a single kart. Each player had a special item that they could use to gain an advantage over their opponents. Daisy, who was paired with Peach by default, used the Heart as their special item (largely to protect the princesses against attacks). Daisy's signature kart in the game was called the Bloom Coach.

Though not the first "Mario" game to feature soccer, "Mario Strikers Charged" was the first to blend the "Super Mario" universe with soccer in a Wii game. Daisy's super ability was called "Crystal Smash", and it had the effect of stopping opponents by paralyzing them or sending them flying in the air.

"Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games" was released in 2007 for Wii and was based, naturally, on the Olympic Games. The game preceded the Beijing 2008 olympiad, and indeed, it was designated as an official video game for that edition of the Olympic Games.

The game was special because it merged characters from the Mario Universe (Nintendo) and the Sonic Universe (Sega). The video game featured real Olympic events like swimming, archery, and gymnastics. Princess Daisy was especially talented at events in aquatics (such as the 100m freestyle competition) and gymnastics (which included events like trampoline or vault).

"Super Smash Bros. Melee" directly followed the widely popular game "Super Smash Bros." This intense fighting game allowed players to use characters from other video game franchises, such as "The Legend of Zelda" and "Pokemon". While Daisy was not a playable character in this video game, that doesn't mean she wasn't there in some way. One of the trophies, which players could collect throughout the game, featured Daisy.

Some players have noted that due to a bug, a third eye could be seen on the back of Daisy's head on her trophy.

"Mario Party: Star Rush" was released in 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS console. Like its "Mario Party" predecessors, the game featured several mini-games like Acornucopia and Silver Lining. Each playable character had a special ability and dice block.
