Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Aurora, a normal penguin
Answer: b-b-baby
Her catchword suggests a stammer from the cold, as she is a penguin. Her name reflects the fact that penguins mostly live in southern polar regions, where the astronomical phenomenon of auroras regularly illuminates the night sky.
A normal villager, also known as a sweet type, is a friendly female, often interested in reading or cooking. Aurora resembles an immature emperor penguin whose default clothing is a pink and purple classic top (although this changes in later games).
2. Camofrog, a cranky frog
Answer: ten-hut
As his name suggests, Camofrog is a frog whose skin is mottled in a pattern that resembles military camouflage, hence the suitability of his catchphrase, a traditional army instruction ordering soldiers to come to attention. It is unclear whether he ever was actually in the army, or just likes to imagine himself in that role.
As a cranky villager, you will find that it takes some effort to get Camofrog to cooperate. His default clothing is a white shirt with the blue letters MVP on the front.
3. Chuck, a cranky bull
Answer: jerky
His name may refer to chuck steak (a cut of beef), and his catchword to beef jerky (a form of dehydrated beef). Given these constant reminders of his expected fate, it is no wonder he is cranky!
Chuck is a brown bull, whose dilated nostrils and angry eyes provide a hint to his cranky personality. His default clothing is a purple four-ball shirt.
4. Goose, a jock chicken
Answer: buh-kay
While you might be tricked by his name into thinking he is a goose, he is actually a chicken, as is clear from the red comb on his head. His catchphrase resembles the way a clucking chicken might say "Okay".
As a jock, Goose is active and energetic. His default clothing is a brightly coloured tropical tee, and he often sports sunglasses while exercising.
5. Midge, a normal bird
Answer: tweedledee
Midge's name may come from the final syllable of plumage, a word describing the feathers of a bird. Like a number of other villagers, she is not drawn to look like one particular type of bird, but is a more generic white bird with pink feathers.
As a normal villager, she is generally quiet and caring, but does tend to get easily upset by rude behaviour from other villagers - hence her somewhat annoyed catchphrase. Her default outfit is a new spring shirt, which is blue with a yellow and pink cross-shaped floral pattern and a green band above the hem.
6. Olivia, a snooty cat
Answer: purrr
Olivia is a white cat with purple points (the colour pattern of a Siamese cat), and her name is intended to suggest the purple-skinned Kalamata olives. Her catchphrase is unsurprising for a cat!
As a snooty villager, Olivia has a very chic appearance, and a tendency to put down those who are less elegant than herself. She wears floral knit, a dress with a purple background and large flowers with a yellow centre and white petals.
7. Pango, a peppy anteater
Answer: snooooof
Pango is a dark blue spiny anteater with a green face, whose name probably comes from pangolin, an animal that is often called a scaly anteater (even though they do not eat ants). Her catchphrase suggests the snuffling sound of an anteater sucking up its insect prey.
As a peppy villager, Pango is always cheerful, and happy to have a friendly chat. While she does sometimes get upset, she quickly forgets about it. Her default outfit is a subdued print, a light brown dress with a darker brown geometric pattern.
8. Penny, a peppy mouse
Answer: ska-WEAK
Penny is a brown and beige mouse with red inside her large ears. Her catchphrase resembles a very energetic mouse squeak.
Like Pango, who is also peppy, Penny is lively and energetic, and generally in a good mood, recovering quickly when upset. Her default outfit is the same as Pango's, a subdued print dress.
9. Samson, a jock mouse
Answer: pipsqueak
Samson is a grey mouse with pink inside his ears and black stripes on his tail. His name suggests that he is big and strong (which fits in with his energetic and fitness-focused personality); his catchphrase, a play on the squeaking sound a mouse makes, suggests that he finds others to be generally smaller and less significant than himself.
Samson's default outfit is an airy shirt, which appears to be woven from strips of magenta material in a lattice pattern.
10. Teddy, a jock bear
Answer: grooof
Teddy looks like a traditional teddy bear, as his name suggests. He is chestnut brown, with a lighter muzzle and paws. His catchphrase resembles a bear's growl.
As a jock villager, Teddy is a fitness fanatic. His default outfit is a club tee, a yellow shirt with a green shamrock on the front.
