Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Clean up Delfino Airstrip.

Although Mario, Peach, Toadsworth, and a slew of Toads fully believe that a trip to Isle Delfino is perfect for a vacation, it takes a very abrupt landing at Delfino Airstrip to flip the trip on its head. Mario will be requested to help clean up the big mess in the middle of the runway, and to do that he'll need to pick up the FLUDD waiting on the other side of it, strap in, and face off against a Proto-Piranha that's taken root. Once he does this, however, he'll be taken to jail and found guilty for making a mess on the island. Turns out, a doppelganger has been wreaking havoc.

Some vacation.
2. Chase Shadow Mario around the plaza on Isle Delfino.

When Mario is able to arrive in Delfino Plaza it won't take long before he finds some mess to clean up, and in one of the central areas there'll be another Proto-Piranha to take down, revealing a massive statue where it once was. This will open the path to the first course of the game, Bianco Hills, but it will also lead Peach to be snatched up by a figure who looks an awful lot like Mario (but who clearly isn't). Running down the doppelganger and spraying him with water will help Peach out, at least temporarily.
3. Reveal the Boathouse.

After Mario is able to collect three Shine Sprites, a new event will occur in Delfino Plaza and he'll be summoned to check out the end of a long dock where, unfortunately, another Proto-Piranha has risen up from a pile of gunk. Defeating this one opens up a shop manned by local raccoons, but also the entryway to Ricco Harbor, the second course Mario will need to visit during his adventure.
4. Reveal the Lighthouse.

After Mario collects five Shine Sprites, another messy event will occur in Delfino Plaza and Mario will need to head to a corner of the area (on the opposite side of the map from Ricco Harbor's entrance) to fight another Proto-Piranha to keep things clean.

This time, when Mario emerges victorious, it will be revealed that the foe was sitting on top of an entire lighthouse, and that happens to be the entryway to the game's third area, Gelato Beach.
5. Princess Peach is taken to Pinna Park.

Once Mario has opened up both Ricco Harbor and Gelato Beach and he's accumulated ten total Shine Sprites, then the worst will happen. Though Princess Peach will hang around the main plaza up until this point, she'll be nabbed by Shadow Mario and thrown into a Bowser-like watercraft to jet off to Pinna Island, home to a massive amusement park. Mario will have to go there to uncover the truth-- that Shadow Mario is actually Bowser Jr.

It's there, at Pinna Park, that his grand scheme will come to be discovered, and a few episodes into that course, Mario will have the chance to get a Yoshi Egg, a necessary item for some of the game's later events.
6. Glance at the sun to head to Noki Bay.

Although, theoretically, you can collect the additional nozzles before ever looking at the sun, this event is next in sequence after Pinna Park is accessible. There's a mosaic in front of the Shine Gate in Delfino Plaza's inner harbour, and from there, you'll find a column of light coming down from the sky. If you stand within that column and stare up at the sun, you'll be granted entry into Noki Bay. You need at least twenty Shine Sprites before that light appears.
7. Acquire the Turbo Nozzle.

If you've met Yoshi by completing the fourth episode in Pinna Park and you've accumulated twenty-five Shine Sprites, you'll end up coming back from a mission to find Shadow Mario racing around Delfino Plaza again, this time holding onto a nozzle for your FLUDD. Chasing him down, as usual, will allow you to collect the piece and use it at your whim, but you'll need to locate it in a grey box to collect it and let it replace your Hover Nozzle.
8. Acquire the Rocket Nozzle.

If you've gotten the Turbo Nozzle from chasing Shadow Mario around Delfino Plaza, you're already well on your way to commencing the chase for the Rocket Nozzle, the final attachment for the FLUDD, which will be found in red crates when you snag it off the enemy this time.

The threshold for this one starts at thirty Shine Sprites, and there's no way to get this one before the previous attachment. This attachment will make it a lot easier to get to Pianta Village, though it's not impossible without it.
9. Delfino Plaza floods.

Progress is key in "Super Mario Sunshine". You can reach all seven of the game's main courses, but it's not until you've encountered and defeated Shadow Mario in each, on each course's seventh episode, that you'll get this late-game event in which Delfino Plaza has to deal with a rising water level. If you avoid claiming any other Shine Sprites in the game, this will mean you have fifty total (though you'll likely have more).

It will also mean you can access Corona Mountain and head to the final boss battle, even if you have more Shine Sprites to collect (and you might, since there are one hundred twenty in the game).
10. Face Bowser and Bowser Jr.

Once Delfino Plaza floods, Mario can head into Corona Mountain at his leisure and face off against Bowser Jr. and, as one may expect, Bowser himself, all in the effort of saving Princess Peach from their clutches.

After a battle against Bowser (in a giant hot tub), Mario's efforts in cleaning up Isle Delfino don't need to end. In fact, he can unlock a handful of late game bonuses and areas that will help him change his stay on the island and collect the remainder of his Blue Coins and Shine Sprites. There are 120 of the latter to fill out the grand total.
