Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sonic

Sonic the Hedgehog doesn't look like a hedgehog. I think everyone knows that, eh? Well, maybe not but it is true. He's a spiky-haired blue chap who walks upright on two legs, who made his first appearance in video games by Sega in the early 1990s. He's given his name to a number of films too, and over a hundred video games including platform and racing games.

The hedgehog ornament in the photo also doesn't really look like a hedgehog, but it is closer than Sonic, and should have allowed you to make the match.
2. Chuck

Chuck is the yellow bird in the "Angry Birds" universe, said to be most effective against wooden barriers. Tapping either screen or mouse button give Chuck an extra burst of speed and power. He's also useful for tilting cannons to change their trajectory.

Impersonating Chuck for the purposes of this quiz is Big Yellow Chick, a member of my personal collection.
3. Mario

The pipes in the photo should suggest Mario's occupation as a plumber, which he became with the release "Mario Bros." (1983). Originally, in "Donkey Kong", Mario was a carpenter, but this was changed as it didn't fit the setting of the newer game, which featured a lot of pipes and underground locations. In later years/games he no longer follows the plumbing profession.

Mario has appeared in over 200 games, and most often is engaged in rescuing Princess Peach from some dire situation (though not always). Movies have also been made, including "Super Mario Bros.: The Movie" (1993) with Bob Hoskins playing Mario.
4. Master Chief

Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, hero of the "Halo" series of games, is usually just known as Master Chief. He wears the armour of a supersoldier, seldom if ever revealing his features to the world, at least in the video game side of the franchise. As played by Pablo Schreiber in the TV series "Halo" (2022) he does reveal his face.

The image is of the insignia of a Master Chief Petty Officer in the United States Coast Guard.
5. Lara Croft

Intelligent, beautiful and heroic, Lara Croft is the main character of the "Tomb Raider" franchise. An archaeologist from Britain, she made her first appearance in 1996, and has sought and fought her way through multiple games since then. In film adaptations she has been memorably played by Angelina Jolie.

The picture of a Scottish croft (farm) has hopefully led you to connect it with her surname.
6. June Parker

As the title character of "June's Journey", June Parker travels the world getting into scrapes and righting wrongs, accompanied by a variety of friends and opposing various foes. As a fashionable 1920s flapper, she usually is depicted wearing a cloche hat, similar to the pictured sun hat.

Game play involves finding hidden objects in a multitude of scenarios; constructing buildings on the island that is June's home base, or repairing existing ones; and interacting with other players to complete missions and tasks.
7. Diddy Kong

Diddy Kong, a chimpanzee who wears a red hat, is a character in the world of "Donkey Kong". Described as the nephew of Donkey Kong, he has been around since the mid-1990s, and has a name derived from a British term meaning "little". He and his girlfriend Dixie Kong are described as "pure good", in contrast to other characters in the franchise who are flawed in some ways.

The image of a chimpanzee is straightforward.
8. Link

Link is the hero of Nintendo's "Legend of Zelda" games. Designed originally to be a gender-neutral character, he has emerged as male over time, though romantic liaisons with Zelda have been discouraged and/or denied. The (usually) left-handed knight made his first appearance in 1986.

The image is of a chain link fence.
9. Simon Riley

Simon Riley, aka Ghost, is an officer in the special services of the British armed forces, and appears in several iterations of "Call of Duty". He is described as having had a troubled childhood, though his age in the games is a matter of some dispute. At some point he has suffered disfiguring wounds, and to hide these wears a balaclava with a skull motif.

The photo is of a ghost, and should be helpful in identifying this character.
10. Pac-Man

Pac-Man's entire reason for being would seem to be to gobble dots and avoid being caught by the four ghosts who constantly try to thwart him in this purpose. Originally called Puck Man, he's been around since 1980, and the game (as I can attest from personal experience) is addictive. Blisters have been known to form on the hands of obsessed players (again, personal experience!) "Pac-Man", the game, has been followed by such sequels as "Ms. Pac-Man" and others.

Lateral thinking is once again required, to link the image of a backpack to Pac-Man's name.
