"The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" (I) Quiz

Answer: Hyrule Castle

When Zelda first speaks to Link in "Tears of the Kingdom", she is referred to as the Princess of Hyrule. Zelda describes to Link that when she was a child she was forbidden to venture under Hyrule Castle by her father. Link and Zelda descend many flights of stairs and tunnels while they are under Hyrule Castle.

Zelda tells Link that she has traced the 'gloom' to under Hyrule Castle and that is why they are exploring down there. The gloom has killed many and Zelda believes that if she can find its source she can stop it. The gloom is depicted as a wispy, black type of smoke.

Answer: Zonai

As Zelda and Link descend further under Hyrule Castle, Zelda finds language inscriptions and images carved into walls. She tells Link that they represent the Zonai who were a civilization that inhabited the sky and possessed god-like powers. The murals also showed the Zonai and Hylians (Zelda's heritage) battling evil forces together in the Great War.

Answer: Demon King

Zelda passionately describes to Link that the murals they are seeing under Hyrule Castle match the information she had read about in history books. Specifically the murals depict the Hylians and Zorai fighting against the Demon King and his army.

As Link and Zelda explore deeper under Hyrule Castle, Link's Master Sword starts to glow. The Master Sword can seemingly sense that there is great danger ahead. Link tries to slash and then throw his sword at the re-animated creature but it doesn't do any damage.

The creature then makes red and black 'gloom' emanate from his body that descends further upon Hyrule and separates Zelda from Link.

The re-animated creature under Hyrule Castle emanated a red gloom that wrapped itself around Link's right arm. The next scene shows Link awakening and a voice telling him that he nearly died and had to have his arm replaced. Link locates the Master Sword and discovers that the gloom has caused it to decay.

At several points in the area where Link wakes up after being attacked by the gloom, he jumps into water. However, his last jump in the area surprisingly has Link skydiving without a parachute. While in the air, floating landforms are visible and "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" logo is shown.

Answer: Skyshroom

The skyshroom is described as a common mushroom that grows near trees on sky islands. After the gloom infects Link in the beginning of the game, he only has three hearts in his health bar. Eating skyshrooms helps Link replenish these hearts when his health bar isn't full.

Answer: Purah Pad

In the game's intro, Zelda tells Link that she had received a gift from Purah that was fascinating and she is shown taking pictures of the murals under Hyrule Castle. On Big Sky Island, the robot-like Steward Construct gives this device to Link and its name is given as the Purah Pad and it will help on his journey.

Answer: Temple of Time

After the Steward Construct gives Link the Purah Pad, Link is told to use it to locate Princess Zelda on its map. The Steward Construct also tells Link that the once invaluable Temple of Time is now in ruins. The games in "The Legend of Zelda" series are interconnected and many prior games had the Temple of Time as an important locale.

When Link first tries to enter the Temple of Time in "Tears of the Kingdom", he is told that he needs to gain more strength before he will be allowed to enter.
