Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Isle o' Hags
Answer: Klungo
Klungo was fought three times over the course of the game: once at the very beginning between Spiral Mountain and Jinjo Village (Minion With a Mission), again between the Pine Grove and Wasteland (Revenge-seeking Minion), and finally at the Cauldron Keep (Career-questioning Minion). He has three potions with different effects, but the order he'll use them is randomized for each game.
2. Mayahem Temple
Answer: Targitzan
Targetzan (Despotic Dizzy Totem God) was the only boss to be fought in the "Breegull Blaster" mode (first-person shooter). The player had to shoot targets on each section of the totem to remove them while dodging arrows and other enemies in the arena.
Rare, the company that made "Banjo-Tooie," also made the successful "GoldenEye 007" and "Perfect Dark" shooter video games for the N64. The three most popular multiplayer stages from "GoldenEye 007" (Temple, Library, and Complex) were remade in "Banjo-Tooie" for the worlds Mayahem Temple, Glitter Gulch Mine, and Grunty Industries.
3. Glitter Gulch Mine
Answer: Old King Coal
Old King Coal (Grubby Boiler Monarch) lived in Chuffy's Boiler (Chuffy was the train that could travel between worlds). Once he was defeated, he would help the player by driving Chuffy to wherever it was needed.
4. Witchyworld
Answer: Mr. Patch
Mr. Patch (Strange Wobbly Inflatable Thing) was a giant inflatable dragon found in the big top tent of Witchyworld. He was covered in patches to keep the air in, so the player just had to shoot them open. As more patches were broken, Mr. Patch would shrink.
5. Jolly Roger's Lagoon
Answer: Lord Woo Fak Fak
Lord Woo Fak Fak (Self-Important Anglerfish) was a giant anglerfish hiding in Davy Jones' locker at the bottom of Jolly Roger's Lagoon. He was hurt by popping boils on his side and then attacking his eyes. This was one boss the player could fight while transformed (which was arguably much easier), because the transformation for this world was a submarine with infinite torpedoes.
6. Terrydactyland
Answer: Terry
Terry (Disgruntled Pterodactyl Parent) was the namesake of Terrydactyland. He was just a single father trying his best to take care of his eggs, and fought the player over a misunderstanding. Terry would attack the player with Mucoids, sentient globs of snot.
7. Grunty Industries
Answer: Weldar
Weldar (Visually-impaired Welding Torch) was a giant sentient welding torch. It attacked the player because the handbook said no bears were permitted in the building. Banjo denied that he was a bear, and Weldar couldn't see very well, but he was already in the arena so he decided to attack anyway.
The player defeated Weldar by lobbing grenades into its mouth, which then exploded in its fuel tank.
8. Hailfire Peaks
Answer: Chilli Billi
Hailfire Peaks had two bosses: Chilli Billi (Hot 'n' Spicy Dragon) on the lava side, and Chilly Willy (Cold 'n' Icy Dragon) on the ice side. They lived in their respective peaks of Hailfire Peaks, and both assumed the player was there to deliver pizza.
When there was no pizza to be found, they attacked. The player defeated them using the opposite egg type (ice eggs and fire eggs) in cannons pointed at the dragons. When defeated, they flew off, revealing that their large heads and long necks were attached to absurdly small bodies.
9. Cloud Cuckooland
Answer: Mingy Jongo
Mingy Jongo (Crafty Shaman Impersonator) was a robotic replica of Mumbo Jumbo. After an entire game of running into Mumbo huts to talk to the shaman and being lured into a false sense of security, in the last level the player was attacked by the imposter. As the player damaged the fake Mumbo, bits of its disguise fell away, revealing the metallic body underneath.
10. Cauldron Keep
Answer: HAG 1
The final boss of the game, like the previous one, was Gruntilda the witch. Except this time she was driving the tank-like digging machine HAG 1 (Monstrous Mechanical Mud-muncher). Grunty tried to drive over the player, while also hurling spells and trivia questions at the player.
The player had to disable the vehicle and then attack the witch herself, eventually making her drop an explosive spell inside the HAG 1, blowing up both machine and witch.
