Answer: Salmon P. Chase

Chase was a United States Senator from 1849 to 1855. He served two terms as Ohio's governor from 1855 to 1859. As Lincoln's Treasury Secretary (From 1861 to 1864)he guided the nation through the financial rigors of the Civil War. His image appeared on the first US one dollar bill and appeared on the $10,000 bill.

He was Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court from December 1864 until his death in 1873.

Charles and Max Fleischmann were Austrian immigrants that settled in Cincinnati. In 1868 they revolutionized the baking world with their yeast. Their product became a household name when, in 1876, they used their yeast and culinary skills to bake and distribute bread at the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition.

Crosley manufactured automobiles, radios, televisions and appliances. He is credited with developing the first car radio, the first push button radio, the first refrigerator with shelves in the door, the first fax machine and the first car to have disc breaks. On May 24, 1935 the Philadelphia Phillies played the Reds in baseball's first night game at Cincinnati. Crosley installed the electric lights for the game and the increase in attendance was so dramatic that soon other teams followed suit.

Wurlitzer was born in Germany but immigrated to the United States in 1853. In 1861 he opened up his Cincinnati based company in order to make musical instruments for military use. The company expanded over the years and under the leadership of his sons became famous for their organs and jukeboxes.

Hoyte pitched for the New York Giants and Boston Red Sox before being acquired by the Yankees where in 1921 he won 19 games and pitched 27 innings in the World Series without giving up an earned run. When not playing baseball he performed in vaudeville theaters and worked at a funeral home which led to him being nicknamed "The Merry Mortician" by his teammates.

After his Hall of Fame baseball career he went into broadcasting spending most of that time in Cincinnati. His famous anecdotes that he told during rain delays have been published in a two volume set.
