The tough as nails Stu Hart who ran his own wrestling school in addition to his own promotion fathered twelve children. Eight sons included Smith, Dean, Bret, Ross, Owen, Keith, Wayne and Bruce all of which were involved at some level in the family business. The four Hart daughters were Georgia, Alison, Ellie and Diana the last two were married to Jim Niedhart and the late Davey Boy Smith respectively.

The tag team of Hart and Niedhart were dubbed The Hart Foundation and would become one of the finest duos in wrestling history.

In the 1994 "Royal Rumble", Tatanka and Bret did throw a few punches at each other. Tatanka was eliminated by Bam Bam Bigelow, whom he defeated earlier that night in a singles match, while Bret was the co-winner of the "Royal Rumble" along with Lex Luger.

Finally, Bret lost the Intercontinental Championship Title to his brother-in-law, The British Bulldog at "Summerslam 1992" via pinfall, allowing Hart to begin his quest for the WWE Heavyweight Championship Title.

At Madison Square Garden on August 26, 1991 Bret Hart defeated the legendary Mr. Perfect aka Curt Hennig to win the WWF Intercontinental Title. The match itself was one of the best matches ever in wrestling history as two technical masters put on a terrific performance. In fact, you would never know it but Hennig was nursing a severely injured back and refused to back out of the contest. By wrestling in the match his back became more damaged leading to a fifteen month hiatus from the ring. Sadly Curt would be plagued by that back injury right up until his sudden demise in 2003.

After failing to win the match Owen turned on his brother and ignited a feud that lasted over a year. Later that night Bret fought in "The Royal Rumble" and in a weird turn of events both he and the other remaining contestant, Lex Luger tumbled over the ropes together. Then WWF President the late Jack Tunney declared them to be co-winners and that each would get a WWF Title Match at "Wrestlemania X".
