In the 1994 "Royal Rumble", Tatanka and Bret did throw a few punches at each other. Tatanka was eliminated by Bam Bam Bigelow, whom he defeated earlier that night in a singles match, while Bret was the co-winner of the "Royal Rumble" along with Lex Luger.

Doink never received any title shots from what I can remember. Bret squared off versus IRS on a Saturday Night's Main Event taping and won via disqualification. The first ever title defense against the then nicknamed Boy Toy (not yet Heartbreak Kid) Shawn Michaels was a Ladder Match. Bret won this too. Finally, Bret lost the Intercontinental Championship Title to his brother-in-law, The British Bulldog at "Summerslam 1992" via pinfall, allowing Hart to begin his quest for the WWE Heavyweight Championship Title.

Owen had some problems with Bret after being the only man eliminated in the "Survivor Series 1993" match with Bret, Keith, and Bruce against Shawn Michaels (originally supposed to be Jerry Lawler) and the three knights. He then appeared to cool off, and agreed to team with Bret to challenge the Tag Team Champions, the Quebecers for the WWE Tag Team Championship belts at "Royal Rumble 1994". Bret injured his knee and the referee stopped the match. Owen then got in and began to attack Bret because he was upset that Bret never made an attempt to tag him.

Bret turned heel officially after defeating Stone Cold Steve Austin in an I Quit Match. Austin actually passed out from a loss of blood while in the Sharpshooter.
