Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Born on the 2nd of July in 1957 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Bret is the eighth of 12 children born to whom?

Answer: Stu and Helen Hart

All of Bret's seven brothers became professional wrestlers, and all his 4 sisters married wrestlers. Bret's siblings are Ross, Smith, Keith, Owen, Allison, Diana, Elizabeth, Bruce, Wayne, Ellie and Dean. Tragically, both Dean and Owen have passed away.
2. Whom did Bret Hart lose his last WWE World Heavyweight Title to? Hint: 'Survivor Series 1997'.

Answer: Shawn Michaels

This match, which took place at 'Survivor Series' is now known as the infamous 'Montreal Screwjob'. Bret 'submitted' the title whilst Michaels applied Bret's own finishing move, The Sharpshooter. This proved to be Bret's final match in the WWE before he began working for the WCW.
3. One of Bret's most powerful, and indeed bitter, feuds in the WWE was with real-life brother Owen Hart. Owen tragically lost his life during a WWE live event when a cable lowering him from the ceiling went horribly wrong. Which year was this?

Answer: 1999

After Bret left the WWE, Owen wanted to cancel his contract to show unison with Bret. It was Bret who convinced Owen to remain in the WWE, a cruel twist of fate, as it turned out.
4. Bret captured his first singles title in 1991, after the Hart Foundation dispersed. Bret captured the Intercontinental Title from Mr. Perfect by using the Sharpshooter and making Perfect (Curt Hennig) submit. At which Pay-Per-View event of 1991 was this?

Answer: 'Summerslam'

Stu and Helen Hart were in the crowd to support Bret. Bret lost the title to The Mountie (Jaques Rougeau)the week before 'Royal Rumble' 1992, only to re-capture the title at 'Wrestlemania' VIII from 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper. Hart lost the title for the final time at 'Summerslam 1992', to 'The British Bulldog' Davey- Boy Smith.
5. During the 'Royal Rumble' 1994, Bret and Owen were in a tag match together for the WWE Tag Team Championship, when Owen turned on Bret, accusing him of being 'selfish' and taking out his knee. Bret somehow managed to compete in the Royal Rumble later in the evening, eventually tumbling over the top and being declared joint winner with which WWE superstar?

Answer: Lex Luger

It was deemed that both superstar's feet hit the ground at the same time, thus both winning the Rumble. This meant that both superstars fought Yokozuna for the title at 'Wrestlemania' X. Luger lost his match; Bret, however, re-captured the WWE title, after earlier losing a match to Owen Hart.
6. Bret Hart, whilst wrestling in the WCW, suffered a head injury which ended his career. He was warned by doctors that another head injury could cause a stroke. In June 2002, another head injury caused Bret to suffer exactly that. What caused this?

Answer: Bret fell off his bike and banged his head

Bret was paralysed on the right side of his body, and warned he may never walk again. Thankfully, due to intensive physiotherapy, Bret is now walking again and is back to near-perfect health.
7. What is Bret Hart's middle name?

Answer: Sergeant

Bret has 4 children, Jayde, Dallas, Alexandra Sabina and Blade. Bret recently married for the second time. The four hearts on Bret's wrestling tights represent his four children, as do the four dots he always includes on autographs he signs.
8. Which of these WWF superstars was Bret NOT related to in some form?

Answer: Jimmy Hart

Diana Hart was married to 'The British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith; Elizabeth was married to Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart, who was Bret's tag team partner in 'The Hart Foundation'. 'The Blue Blazer' was in fact Owen Hart. Owen was, of course, Bret's brother. Jimmy Hart, despite sharing Bret's surname, he is not related to him, although he did manage 'The Hart Foundation' in the 1980s.
9. In December 2004, Bret starred in which theatre show in Toronto, Canada?

Answer: Aladdin

Bret played the Genie of the Lamp in this production. Here in the UK we call this a 'pantomime'- a theatre production based on a well-known children's story, such as 'Aladdin'. The 'male' parts are usually played by women, whilst the 'female' parts are played by men (such as 'The Ugly Sisters' in 'Cinderella'.)
10. Which of these was NOT used to describe Bret 'The Hitman' Hart?

Answer: The King of Harts

Owen Hart used this when he won the 1994 'King of the Ring' tournament. Bret has been known by all the other titles. Bret was undoubtly one of the most gifted wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots, and he is sadly missed in the ring. Bret 'The Hitman' Hart, in my opinion, thoroughly deserved all the credit he received throughout his career, and I wish him the best in his retirement.
