WWE's "Saturday Night's Main Event"

Answer: George "the Animal" Steele

The first episode of WWE's "Saturday Night's Main Event" aired on May 11, 1985. The first match was a six-man tag team match featuring the team of Nikolai Volkoff, the Iron Sheik and George "the Animal" Steele verses the team of the U.S. Express and Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat. 2. On March 22, 1993, the WWE created its Hall of Fame and inducted its very first member that evening. Which superstar had the honor of being the first wrestler in this elite organization?

From Quiz WWE Hall of Fame

Answer: Andre the Giant

On March 22, 1993, the WWE Hall of Fame was created and very fittingly the late, great Andre the Giant was the very first person to be enshrined in it. On January 27, 1993, Andre, whose health had been failing for several years, succumbed to a massive heart attack while in his native France. First appearing with the WWE in 1972, Andre was a favorite of the fans for many years until a shocking heel turn in early 1987. Although his heart and mind were still in the ring, by 1990 his Acromegaly forced him to retire from active competition. In his last pay per view match, Andre turned on longtime manager Bobby Heenan, thus reconciling himself with his legions of fans.

3. On May 17, 1963 the legendary Bruno Sammartino defeated "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers to win the WWWF Heavyweight Title in just 55 seconds. Why was the bout purposely kept short?

Answer: Rogers was recovering from a mild heart attack

Bruno Sammartino, "The Living Legend" defeated Buddy Rogers for the WWWF Heavyweight Title in a reign that would last seven and a half years. The reason why the bout was kept so short was that immediately after winning the WWWF Title in February 1963 Rogers had suffered a mild heart attack. To protect his health and to push the reputation of Sammartino as a tough competitor, the bout was made a squash.

Heavyweight Title against The Iron Sheik, Hogan was made the replacement. The rest is history.
