1. In the beginning, Bond is seen searching several buildings, getting in a car chase, and fighting an enemy on top of a train in order to retrieve something vital to MI6. What is he after?

Answer: A drive containing the names of NATO agents embedded in terrorist organizations

Agent Eve Moneypenny takes up a sniping position to take out the enemy henchman, but Bond is in the way. M tells her to take the shot, but she hits and seemingly kills Bond. The enemy gets away with the drive. M then sits down with Intelligence and Security Committee Chairman Gareth Mallory. He tells her what was on the drive and that she could get into serious trouble.

The mercenary had stolen a computer hard drive from a laptop, and on it was a detailed list of NATO agents. Bond and his superiors were very keen to reclaim the hard drive due to the security risk it posed to the identity of agents throughout the world. This was Daniel Craig's third outing as the famous spy, James Bond, and as with all the other "Bond" films, it started off with an explosive chase. At the beginning, we saw an action packed scene on a train that led us to believe that Bond had been killed, as later in the film we saw M type out his obituary on her laptop which read "A senior officer of the Ministry of Defence, Commander James Bond C.M.G., R.N. is missing, believed killed, while on an official mission to Turkey". The scene was actually shot at the Varda Viaduct in southern Turkey.

Answer: a scorpion

In his hand Bond holds a glass containing a shot of liquor. Perched on the back of that same hand is a scorpion with tailed poised, ready to strike. The challenge is to down the shot, drop the scorpion and trap it with the upturned, empty glass before it manages to sting you. Bond is able to do this easily.

Eve had both Bond and the mercenary in her crossfire, but accidently shot Bond, causing him to plummet off the train into a steep ravine below, presumed dead. It was only at the end of the film that she fully introduced herself as Eve Moneypenny, a field agent who was to become the secretary to M. Eve was played by British actress, Naomie Harris, known for her role as Tia Dalma in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" (2006) and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" (2007).

Assuming that he was dead, M wrote an obituary for him, which he had read. She tells him that she didn't think he would like it. Bond acknowledges that he was taking advantage of being thought dead. He questions M about telling Moneypenny to take the shot and she defends herself by saying that she was weighing the life of one agent against the lives of all the agents on the list. She does not apologise as she believes that it was the only decision she could have made.

Bardem said in an interview that he always wanted to be like James Bond, since he was a kid when he saw "Moonraker". He was happy when he was cast in the "Bond" film. In the same interview, he said that the kid version of himself wouldn't be happy that he gets to try to kill Bond in "SkyFall". He was also in "No Country For Old Men" as the hitman Anton Chigurh, and has been in dozens of American and Spanish films.

Somebody had hacked into the computer system at the MI6 headquarters, causing an explosion which killed several employees. Bond, who had recovered from his earlier injuries, returned back to London, only to find the new MI6 headquarters were at a secret location underground. Shrapnel was recovered from his shoulder which identified the location of the mercenary in China. Armed with new gadgets supplied by Q, Bond travelled to Shanghai.

As it is mentioned throughout the Bond films and franchise, Bond holds the rank of commander, specifically being a Royal Navy commander. The computer on which M writes his obituary states Commander James Bond, CMG, RN. The CMG part signifies that he is of the Order of St Michael and Saint George; this is awarded for acts of bravery and to people who offer invaluable services to the Commonwealth or foreign nations. The RN simply signifies that Bond serves the Royal Navy.

When Silva was traded, he remembered he had a cyanide capsule in one of his molars (which most secret agents have, so they can commit suicide if they are captured). He broke the tooth and bit the capsule. The cyanide burned his insides, but he didn't die. He managed to get away and from and there vowed his revenge on M. This is revealed when Silva captures Bond and tells him about M's past.

A "James Bond" film would not be the same without a bevy of Bond girls, and in "Skyfall", one of these was a glamorous woman called Severine. Played by French actress Bérénice Lim Marlohe, Severine warned Bond that her boss wanted him killed. After a fight with some Komodo Dragons, Bond was captured along with Severine by the main antagonist of the film. This was Bérénice Lim Marlohe's first foray into film work as she has only been noted for small roles in French television.

Police officers block the road. M angrily gets out of the car to confront the officers and the explosion happens. It is never really explained why the police officers blocked the road, but luckily M didn't get too close to the building.

Answer: He digs the bullet fragments out of his chest and has them analysed.

Without any form of freezing, Bond looks into a mirror and digs the bullet fragments out from just below his shoulder. The analysis of the fragments determines that they contain depleted uranium which helps them identify the type of bullet. It turns out that these particular bullets are only used by a few people. From the pictures of those known to use the bullets, Bond easily identifies the computer drive thief as Patrice, a 'gun for hire'. Bond tracks down Patrice while he is doing a job, but Patrice falls to his death before revealing anything. Bond takes a poker chip from Patrice's case and ends up at a casino where he meets Severine who reluctantly works for Silva, the man behind the theft of the hard drive. Patrice is played by Ola Rapace.

Silva most likely changed his name to prevent MI6 from tracking him when he became a cyber terrorist. He changed his name right after he escaped captivity and left MI6.

Blond haired Raoul Silva was played by Spanish actor, Javier Bardem. Already a respected actor, Bardem won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2007 film, "No Country for Old Men". His role as former MI6 agent turned sadistic terrorist, Raoul Silva, was seeking revenge against M who had left him for dead in enemy hands during a previous assignment.

Wolf Blitzer is featured discussing and reporting on the explosion that occurred at MI6. This wasn't the first major motion picture he was featured in, Blitzer also making an appearance in the film "The Campaign", but it was important to him nonetheless. He is quoted to have said, "This acting thing, I might have something." It also stirred up a lot of publicity for this news-anchor-gone-actor, exploding on Twitter and other social media devices. Piers Morgan, a fellow news-anchor and counterpart to Wolf Blitzer who was featured in the film "Flight", called these film appearances a "CNN Thespian War" between the two of them on Twitter.

During the climax of "SkyFall", Silva's men are attacking Bond and M at Bond's childhood estate, SkyFall. Bond stays to hold off the enemy, as M uses an underground tunnel to escape to a chapel, along with the gatekeeper, Kingsley. It is revealed that M was hit by round from a helicopter while making her way to the tunnel. After Bond kills Silva's men, he makes it to the chapel, where he kills Silva. M then collapses from her wound and dies.

Skyfall was the name of the childhood home of James Bond. It was here that he took M to hide away from Raoul Silva, and with the assistance of the gamekeeper Kincade, they were able to set a trap using homemade explosives. With a back drop of heather covered moors, the old house was assaulted by helicopter, with explosions lighting up the night sky.

M comes home one night to find Bond in the shadows of her home. When she sees Bond, however, she doesn't seem at all surprised or startled, not even relieved. She simply asks, "Where the hell have you been?" This is when Bond replies with his popular quote, "Enjoying death." M probably wasn't surprised as to Bond being in her home as he has done this before, showing up in the shadows of her home during the Bond film "Casino Royale".

Severine's dislike of her employer is very clear. The previous night, at the casino, she asked Bond if he could kill her employer for her. She also spoke to Bond about how fear of this man was the worst kind of fear imaginable. After Bond spends the night with her on the sailboat, Silva's men know she cannot be trusted, so she and Bond are escorted across the island in handcuffs. After telling Bond who he is, or rather was, and showing off to him, Silva takes them outside. He places a shot of liquor on Severine's head, hands Bond a gun and tells him to shoot the glass, making a contest out of who can do it first. Bond hesitates so Silva yells at him. Bond shoots, deliberately missing. On Silva's turn he doesn't miss, but he doesn't hit the glass either, and we see it tumble, unbroken, from her head as she falls dead. Silva declares himself the winner.

When he asks her to do this, he puts their heads together and gives her his pistol, saying she has to do it. M refuses, and at the same time Bond shows up and kills Silva, saving M from him.

M was seriously wounded in the attack against Skyfall. The gamekeeper took her by underground tunnel to a nearby chapel on the estate, and it was here that Raoul Silva tracked her down. Bond was close behind when he threw a knife at Raoul which landed in his back. This led to his eventual death. M died from her wounds in the arms of James Bond.

His real name is Tiago Rodriguez, but he goes by the name of Raoul Silva. He is mentioned throughout the film as Silva, but his real name is told to Bond by M after M reconnects with Tiago in the new MI6 headquarters. You never actually hear Silva say this name, nor do you ever hear him referred to as Tiago except for this one scene. He is played by actor Javier Bardem. Javier Bardem, in real life, was born of Spanish decent, his birth haven taken place in the country of Spain. With the Spanish name the character was given, and the fact that Javier Bardem is from Spain, one may conclude that the character is also Spanish. The film never mentions what country he is from, though.

After Severine is shot, Bond manages to kill Silva's guards, taking a gun and turning it on Silva. Silva mocks Bond, asking him if he thinks he can take him back by himself. Bond asks him why he thinks that he is on his own and helicopters appear over the roofs of the abandoned buildings. Bond informs Silva that he summoned help with, "The latest thing from Q branch, called a radio."

After stabbing him, Bond says that he is the last rat standing. This is a reference to a previous conversation between Bond and Silva. During this conversation, Silva tells Bond that when he was a boy, his family island was infested with rats. They always followed the smell of coconuts. Silva's grandmother would then use the smell of coconut to trap the rats in a large room. From there, the rats would eat each other to survive, until there were only two left. The last two rats were then released on the island to kill any other rats that showed up. (When Silva is killed, Bond says he is the last rat standing because he recalled Silva's story, the rats representing them both).

Ralph Fiennes played Gareth Mallory in the film. His role was that of Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee who reported directly to the Prime Minister. Upon the death of Judi Dench in her character role, he took over M as head of MI6. Fiennes was already a well known and loved British actor, for starring in "Schindler's List" (1993), "The English Patient" (1996) and as Lord Voldemort in the "Harry Potter" franchise.

After biting down on a cyanide capsule, hidden in his molar, he lost many of teeth and his cheek bone and jaw-line became caved in. He is quoted to have said that it burned his insides. Many people theorize that because of cyanide's lethality, and the fact that it did not kill him when he bit down on it, the capsule was probably expired or tainted. It is never fully explained in the film, though.

Silva has so little trouble escaping from MI6 Bond realizes that it was his plan all along. When Q plugs Silva's laptop into MI6's system, Silva basically gets control of MI6 and escapes in his orange prisoner's jumpsuit. Bond pursues him through the subway tunnels, narrowly missing being squished by a train. As Silva walks determinedly through the station, he is passed by two men dressed as police. Silva emerges from this encounter holding a box which contains a police uniform, which he changes into. He boards a waiting subway, a train that Bond almost misses while waiting for Q to tell him whether to get on or not. After disembarking from the train, Silva disappears into a group of police officers and gets away.

The song is titled after the movie, just like the other main themes for "Bond" films. When asked about writing the song "SkyFall", she said "One of the proudest moments of my life". The song was recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

English born Sam Mendes was already known for directing famous films such as "Road to Perdition" (2002) and "Revolutionary Road" (2008). His directional debut on film was "American Beauty" (1999) and this won an Academy Award for Best Picture. When Sam Mendes was given the role as director of "Skyfall", he was quoted as saying "I wanted to have a huge challenge and there was no question, they don't come much bigger than Bond in terms of scale and expectation". The premiere of "Skyfall" was at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 23 October 2012.

Gareth Mallory, played by Ralph Fiennes, leaps off the table he was sitting at and pulls M away, accidentally taking the bullet in the shoulder or arm area. Mallory then proceeds, despite his gun-shot wound, to pick up a pistol and return fire. Mallory is next seen in a sling.
