Plot spoiler: Lancelot is the first to speak and last to die in the film. In many texts, Lancelot lives on to eventually have 'relations' with Guinevere, however our Lancelot doesn't get that far in this film. Lancelot's opening speech leads us into how and why the young boys were ripped from their Sarmatian families to join the Roman armies as knights. Lancelot also says that the Romans believed the Sarmatian horseman to be the best ever fighters, this is why they were saved.

We often see Gawain and Galahad riding side by side for instance, when they are riding to rescue the Roman family who live north of Hadrian's wall.
