Contrary to the popular belief that Arthur's knights were British Lords, some historians believe that they were in fact calvary from an ancient land called Sarmatia (which today would be located in the southern portion of Ukraine). This belief is the basis for the knights in the movie.

In some versions of the legend of Arthur and his knights, Galahad and Gawain are step-brothers. Gawain was said to have 3 other brothers as well. British actor Hugh Dancy and Austrailian actor Joel Edgerton played Galahad and Gawain. Dancy reunited with his "Black Hawk Down" co-star Ioan Gruffudd (Lancelot) in this film. Joel Edgerton is known for his role in the 2004 movie "Ned Kelly" in which he plays Aaron Sherritt.

Lucan was the boy Dagonet found in the dungeon-like building on Marius Honorious' property, when they found Guinevere. Dagonet took it upon himself to protect the boy and help him safely get to Hadrian's Wall.

After Arthur informs the knights of their final mission for Rome, he and Lancelot get into an argument in a barn. Lancelot thinks that they will not make it back if they have to fight north of Hadrian's Wall because of the Woads and Saxons. Arthur insists that they must try to save the Roman family that lives north of the Wall.

Lancelot: "If you wish to spend eternity in this place Arthur, then so be it. But suicide cannot be chosen for another."

Arthur: "Yet you choose death for this family?"

Lancelot: "I choose life! And freedom! For myself and the men!"

When the knights are sitting in the rain and Bors is asked if he will take his children with him, he turns serious and admits that his children mean something to him. He quickly turns witty again and says "Especially Number 3. He's a good fighter." To which Lancelot replies "That's because he's mine." It is an ongoing joke in the film between Lancelot and Bors, that at least one of Bors' children is Lancelot's.
