From Quiz Geographic Rock and Roll Bands

Answer: Boston

The group Boston was actually formed in Boston, Massachusetts and it took six years for them to have their breakthrough onto the pop scene. Formed by Tom Scholz and Bud Delp, it took a number of years before the group got their break in 1976 with the release of their debut album, simply titled "Boston". It went to number three on the U.S. album charts and gave them singles such as "More Than A Feeling", "Peace Of Mind", and "Foreplay/Long Time". Their followup album, titled "Don't Look Back" was a number one album in 1978. The title track on the album reached number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts. The group then had some legal battles with their record label and didn't release their next album until 1986. The hiatus didn't seem to matter as "Third Stage" went to the top of the U.S. album charts that year and yielded the group their biggest charting single called "Amanda" which was a number one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The group also had a Top Ten album in 1994 called "Walk On" which peaked at number seven. All told, the group has sold over 50 million albums worldwide in their career.
