From Ennis and Arlington Texas came the heavy metal band Pantera. The band performed from 1981 till 2003 producing nine albums.

The band U2 formed in 1976 in Dublin Ireland. With Bono as the lead singer and the Edge on guitar, they have had global success with "New Year's Day", "With or Without You", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Vertigo". In the late 80's and 90's, The Cranberries from Limerick had hits with "Linger", "Ode to my Family" and "Zombie". Also from Ireland is Enya. Enya earned her first Grammy award in 1991 for her album titled "Shepherd Moons".

With the vocals of Klaus Meine and the lead guitar of Rudolf Schenker, the Scorpions have been a heavy metal based out of Hanover Germany since 1965.
Their albums have included "Love Drive", "Animal Magnetism", "Blackout" and "Love at First Sting". Known for her hit "99 Luftballons", Nena is from Hagen Germany. From Berlin comes the industrial metal band Rammstein. Most of the songs are written by lead singer Till Lindemann. The band was founded in 1994 by Richard Z. Kruspe.

MTV helped their career with the playing of their video "The One Thing" in 1983.

They also had hits with "Never Tear us Apart", "What You Need" and "Need You Tonight". Led by lead singer Peter Garrett, the band Midnight Oil has had hits with "Power and the Passion", "Beds Are Burning" and "The Dead Heart".

John, Paul, George and Ringo appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show" as millions watched the Fab Four in 1964. From "Love me Do" to "The Long and Winding Road", the Beatles song list of hits are some of the most influential music of rock. From London England came The Rolling Stones led by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Since 1962 the Stones have been making music and touring the world playing their classic hits like "Paint it Black", "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", "Sympathy for the Devil" and "Start Me Up". Also from London were The Kinks led by lead singer Ray Davies. From their first (third single) big hit "You Really Got Me" to "Lola" and "Come Dancing" had a career that lasted over 30 years.
