In Leg 11, teams opened their clues over the course of several hours at the tenth Pit Stop in Hong Kong's Statue Square. This informed teams that they would be heading to their penultimate country of the race, South Korea. Teams took two different flights to the city of Incheon outside Seoul and were told to drive themselves to the Demilitarized Zone at the North Korean border where they would need to locate Seung-il Bridge and their next clue box. here, they would need to take a whitewater raft trip down the Hantan River to get their next clue.

Answer: Bangladesh

In the beginning of Leg 9, teams departed from their eighth Pit Stop early in the morning and were instructed to head out from Al Alam Palace in Muscat to fly to the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka. To do this, many of the teams took separate flights landing all throughout the day in the city of Dhaka. The final three teams ended up on the same flight connecting in India. Upon their arrival, teams needed to make their way by cab to the Sundarban Square Supermarket. Once there, teams needed to use a sugar cane press to make a pint of sugar cane juice and one member needed to drink it to collect the next clue.

In Leg 7, teams departed from their sixth Pit Stop outside St. Isaac Cathedral in Saint Petersburg, Russia and embarked on a series of tasks around the same city. Arriving just before sundown the night before, the seven teams waiting there continued on their race early the next morning and were told to take a taxi to Avtovo Circus in the city. Here, teams would need to wait for the big top to open to rip open their next clue. At this point, all eight teams were bunched up.

Answer: Norway

Opening a clue at the Pit Stop on the Swedish-Norwegian border, teams were told to cross from Sweden into Norway to hop into cars and drive themselves to the city of Narvik in Nordland, Norway. Here, they would need to find the gondola which would take them up to the top of Fagernesfjellet, a mountain overlooking the serene northern wilderness. All of the teams departed from their fourth Pit Stop relatively early in the morning, but because of the separation between flights in the previous leg, there was a gap of more than a couple hours between the first and last place teams.

Answer: Ghana

Departing from a Pit Stop outside the Kaneshie Market in Accra, Ghana early in the morning, nine teams were informed that they would need to hop into a cab and make their way across the city to the Jamestown (or Old Accra) District. Here, they would need to direct their driver to the Akotoku Boxing Academy where they would be able to find their next clue box outside. At this point in the day, the heat was only beginning to stifle.

Answer: Watermelon

Arriving at Eastnor Castle in England in Leg 1, teams needed to choose one member with good aim to fire watermelons using a large sling device known as a ballista. When team members hit a suit of armour in a nearby field they would be able to receive the clue directing them to the Pit Stop on the Eastnor Castle grounds. Thomas, Claire, Nat, Rachel, Connor, Chad, Gary, Kevin, Jenna, Nick, and Ron all got ready, aimed, and fired. In a rather interesting moment, Claire ended up feeling the brunt of one watermelon which flew back and hit her in the face mid-task. This clip became viral on the internet months before the show aired.

Answer: Massachusetts

Beginning this seventeenth race around the world, teams were given the "go" at the Eastern Point Yacht Club in Gloucester, Massachusetts. This was the first race to leave in a city other than Los Angeles in about six seasons. This time, teams were told that the first person to reach the Pit Stop in this starting leg would receive a new prize that would benefit them later on in the race. This mechanic, known as the 'Express Pass', would allow the leading team to skip any one task during the first eight legs of the race to their liking. Of course, that would all come later- the eleven teams headed on their way to their first destination across the ocean.

Answer: One hundred

After one team member quenched their thirst with a sweet drink, teams received their Detour clue. In this task, teams needed to choose between either 'Balanced Meal' or 'Balanced Bricks'. In 'Balanced Meal', teams needed to collect thirty containers of local food to deliver to a boat in the nearby harbour for workers' meals. Once teams brought back ten empty containers for which they trader their full ones, they would receive their next clue. Nick and Vicki, Nat and Kat, Brook and Claire, and Chad and Stephanie all did this task. In 'Balanced Bricks', teams needed to use baskets to carry one hundred bricks from a barge to a nearby market place. Once they delivered a total of one hundred unbroken bricks, they would receive their next clue. Jill and Thomas did this.

Answer: Ten

At the Antovo Circus, the seven remaining teams needed to open up their Detour clues and pick a task. In this choice, teams could either take 'Circus Band' or 'Circus Clown'. In 'Circus Band', teams needed to learn how to play a traditional Russian folk song on the accordion (which sounded like the "Tetris" theme song) and perform its three parts correctly to receive their clue. In 'Circus Clown', teams went into the big top to learn how to spin plates. When the teams could successfully spin ten plates on different poles at the same time, they would be able to receive their next clue. Gary and Mallory and Nat and Kat completed 'Circus Band' while the others finished 'Circus Clown'.

Answer: Sheep

On top of Fagernesfjellet Mountain, teams found their regular Route Info and the opportunity to complete a local custom typically held around Christmastime to claim the Fast Forward, the only one on the race. For this task, Nat and Kat headed to a local restaurant to feast on a local delicacy, a dish later discovered to be a roasted sheep's head. Once both team members ate half, they would be able to proceed directly to the Pit Stop without completing the other tasks. Nat, surprisingly, stomached the task despite having been vegetarian for twenty-two years.

Answer: Vicki

Arriving at the Akotoku Boxing Academy, teams found their Road Block task for this leg. For this one, teams needed to choose one member who would be able to properly tape up their hands (according to the boxing specifications) then perform one minute of punching bag training and one minute (non-stop) of rope-skipping. Once they finished this series of small tasks, they would be able to receive their next clue from their trainer and hop back into their taxis. Brook, Chad, Katie, Connor, Kevin, Thomas, Gary, Vicki, and Nat did this one.

Answer: Ghana

In Leg 2, teams flew to the city of Accra, Ghana, where they eventually needed to locate Makola Market. Here, one member of each team needed to perform a Road Block in which they had to use a board of sunglasses to sell enough to make fifteen cedis (selling each pair for no less than three cedis each). Once they handed in the money earned for their sunglasses, they would be able to continue on in their taxis to the Teshie region of Accra. Nick, Brook, Jill, Chad, Rachel, Michael, Kat, Connor, Jenna, and Mallory all drove the hard sell.

Answer: Bicycle Parts

In Ghana, teams progressed to the rural area of Dodowa and completed their Detour at the Asebi D/A Primary School. For this one, only Connor and Jonathan completed 'Language Arts' in which they needed to use a story and a decoder to translate phrases into local symbols. When they found the eight necessary symbols in order on the wall they would be able to receive their clue. In 'Bicycle Parts' (completed by the other eight teams) they needed to use a stick to push a bicycle wheel rim across a field and back like the local schoolchildren. After the Detour, teams ran to their Pit Stop at a nearby house.

Answer: England

Teams heading out from the starting line on the Massachusetts coast were told to fly to London, England on one of only two flights heading over the Atlantic that evening. Upon their arrival, teams needed to drive themselves through the confusing city streets and then southwest to the world-famous Stonehenge, the first route marker for their race. This proves to be one of the more difficult tasks of the race because not only do teams have to navigate the streets of Britain on the wrong side of the road, but they have to drive with gearshifts.

Answer: Speed skating

After the Road Block task, teams needed to take a ride on the subway from Dongducheon to Seoul's World Cup Stadium where their Detour clue could be found in the center of the soccer field. The first option was Full Throttle in which teams needed to travel to Mok-dong Ice Rink, don speed skating gear, and perform twenty-four laps of the skating rink in speed skates before they could obtain their next clue. All the participating teams decided to complete this relay task.

After the Detour, teams were told to search for their next clue box at the Dhaka River Port. Here, teams found a new (or at least revised) race mechanic. This would be the Double U-Turn. For this, two different teams could use the U-Turn to force teams to return to the Detour and complete the alternate task. Upon arriving, Jill and Thomas U-Turned Brook and Claire while Nat and Kat U-Turned Chad and Stephanie forcing both teams to complete the 'Balanced Bricks' Detour task. After this, teams could return to the race course.

In Leg 4, teams flew from the heat of Ghana to the cold of Sweden's Lapland region, specifically the city of Kiruna. Here, teams found their way to Fjellborg's Lodge in Poikkijärvi where one member of each team needed to harness dogs into sled gear and ride them along a course on a summer practice sled. En route to their destination, the participants needed to collect flags hanging from ropes along the route. If they collected all five they would be able to receive a bundle of furs to return to the starting point, otherwise they'd take a penalty lap around a small nearby track to make up for each one not collected. Michael, Mallory, Claire, Kat, Katie, Connor, Stephanie, Nick, and Jill completed this task.

In Leg 4, teams flew to Kiruna in Northern Sweden to complete their tasks. In the small town of Riksgränsen, teams found a Detour outside the Vassijaure Train Station and chose either 'Sleds' or 'Beds'. In 'Sleds', teams took a chairlift up a mountain, then used TechSleds to go down the mountain trail. If they reached the finish in under 1:58, they would collect their clue. Nat and Kat, Brook and Claire, Gary and Mallory, and Nick and Vicki finished this. In 'Beds', teams created a traditional dwelling known as a goathi to the specifications of a completed exemplar. Michael and Kevin, Chad and Stephanie, Katie and Rachel, and Connor and Jonathan finished this. Jill and Thomas went to complete 'Beds' but, fearing that they would arrive last, decided to use the Express Pass to skip the task and head straight to the Pit Stop (where they arrived in fifth).

Answer: Ginseng

In the 'Full Bottle' Detour option in Leg 11, teams needed to travel to Namdaemun Market and don delivery uniforms to take six bottles of ginseng tonic to a holistic medicine store. If they delivered all six without breaking them, they would be able to receive their next clue after drinking a smaller bottle of ginseng tonic. None of the teams finished 'Full Bottle'. After the Detour, teams needed to find a clue box at an airplane statue in Yeouido Hangang Park to get their next clue.

Answer: Frame

Teams continued on to a cycle rickshaw shop in Nazira Bazaar to find their next cluebox. Here, one member of each team completed the Road Block task for this leg in which they needed to properly assemble a number of pieces of a cycle rickshaw to receive their clue. This included the main seat, wheels, canopy, bells, tassels, pedals, back seat, and a chain. When they had properly constructed their rickshaw, teams could get their next clue. Jill, Nick, Nat, Brook, and Stephanie completed this one.

Answer: Nick

Finding the Church on Spilt Blood, teams were given a riddle leading to the resting pace of Peter the Great, Peter and Paul Fortress. Upon finding the Gorodki courts, teams found the Road Block task which required that one member of each team play and complete three rounds of Gorodki, a game akin to bowling made popular by Russians. When the players hit the pins off the targeted area three times, they received their next clue. Nat, Brook, Michael, Stephanie, Thomas, Gary, and Nick completed this task.

Answer: Two

After the Road Block, teams raced through Narvik to a field in the Harvika region to find their Detour task. For this one, teams chose either 'Boats' or 'Bikes'. In 'Boats' (completed by Michael and Kevin, Brook and Claire, Chad and Stephanie, and Katie and Rachel) teams needed to direct their marked boat to a spot using a map, then deliver a large chainsaw and two large fish up a steep marked path to the man waiting at the top. In 'Bike', completed by Jill and Thomas, Gary and Mallory, and Nick and Vicki, teams needed to bike along a marked path to a signboard containing lock combinations, then ride back and unlock the appropriate lock to receive their clue.

Answer: Connor and Jonathan

In this particular Detour, the teams needed to join the Ghanaian schoolkids in two particular activities. In 'Language Arts', completed by Connor and Jonathan, teams were told to use a message and a nearby decoder to determine eight Adinkra symbols and circle them on a giant wall-sized word-search to receive their next clue. Since most teams couldn't find the wall-sized decoder, everyone else chose 'Bicycle Parts' in which they needed to use a stick to roll a bicycle wheel rim down a marked field and back to receive their clue. Both members needed to do the back-and-forth. The other eight teams settled for this one.

Answer: Nat and Kat

In Leg 5, teams drove to Narvik, Norway (from the Swedish border) and completed the Road Block at Skjomen Bridge. Here, one member of each team needed to perform a rappel off the side of a bridge (130ft. down) to receive their next clue from a boat, then ascend to the top to continue on. Kevin, Gary, Claire, Thomas, Vicki, Chad, and Katie completed this task before heading on to the Detour. Neither Nat nor Kat completed the Road Block as they had claimed the race's only Fast Forward clue and got to skip all tasks in the leg.

Answer: Three

In Leg 5, teams drove through Northern Norway and completed the Detour task near Narvik. In an open field in Harvika, teams chose either 'Boat' or 'Bike'. In 'Boat', they needed to hop into a boat and direct its driver, using a map, to a specific spot, then climb up steep rock and a path to deliver two fish and a chainsaw to claim their clue. Michael and Kevin, Brook and Claire, Chad and Stephanie, and Katie and Rachel finished this task. Jill and Thomas, Gary and Mallory, and Nick and Vicki all finished 'Bike' in which they rode mountain bikes through some tough terrain to find a signboard containing bike lock combinations. Returning to the start they could unlock their proper combination to receive their clue. Nat and Kat didn't complete the Detour having claimed the race's only Fast Forward. After the Detour, teams drove to the Pit Stop at the Ankenes Marina.

The next task completed was the first Road Block task of the race. For this one, one member of each team needed to head to a clearing and use a ballista to fire a watermelon at a suit of armour. This would prove to be quite interesting as Claire (or Brook and Claire) who would take one rogue watermelon to the face. Thomas, Claire, Nat, Rachel, Connor, Chad, Gary, Kevin, Jenna, Nick, and Ron completed this Road Block task before heading to the next destination, the Pit Stop for this leg of the race.

Answer: Nick and Vicki

In the end of the leg, teams were directed to travel to Wongudan, also known as the Temple of Heaven, in Seoul, South Korea. Here, teams checked into their final Pit Stop of the race. While Brook and Claire arrived first, their decision to take a taxi to the Detour was met with a penalty of thirty minutes. As a result, Jill and Thomas hit the mat in first place and won a trip for two to Iguazu Falls, Argentina courtesy of Travelocity. Nick and Vicki, who fell too far behind after their penalty in the previous leg, finished their Speed Bump before being told to head directly to the Pit Stop where they became the final eliminated team.

Answer: Chad and Stephanie

After the Road Block, teams were told to travel on foot to their ninth Pit Stop of the race, Lalbagh Fort in the center of Dhaka. Here, Jill and Thomas would cruise into their third first place win of the race taking a $15,000 Discover gift card as their prize. The last place team, after struggling to overcome their U-Turn, would be Chad and Stephanie who fell from first place at the beginning of the leg. They became the seventh eliminated team.

Answer: Michael and Kevin

In the end of the leg, teams needed to race on foot from the Gorodki courts through the fortress to Naryshkin Bastion where their seventh Pit Stop would be waiting. Here, Nat and Kat placed first (for the third time during the race) winning themselves $5,000 each for their victory. In the end, Michael and Kevin came in sixth, but were forced to take two thirty-minute penalties for utilizing taxis at points in the Russian mystery when they weren't supposed to. Chad and Stephanie, while also taking a thirty minute penalty, were able to check in just after them and took the sixth place position (they would take their penalty at the start of the next leg). Michael and Kevin became the fifth team eliminated from the race.

Answer: Katie and Rachel

After the detour task, teams were told to drive themselves to their next Pit Stop, Ankenes Marina, which would be the fifth such spot in the race. Upon arriving here, Nat and Kat, who won the Fast Forward clue, claimed their second first place victory of the race (second in a row as well) and won a trip for two to Costa Rica courtesy of Travelocity. Katie and Rachel, who departed from the Pit Stop in last place, were unable to pass any of the teams in this fifth leg and were eliminated upon arriving at the mat becoming the fourth to do so in this race.
