1. It all started at some point. What was the occupation of Dexter's first victim?

Answer: nurse

Mary (Denise Crosby) was Harry's nurse during his hospital stay. Mary was also an "Angel of Death", who was known to occasionally overdose her elderly patients, causing their deaths, and in her opinion, being spared the pain of their conditions. After her unsuccessful attempt to inject Harry with a lethal dose of medication, Harry, while in his hospital bed, urged Dexter to "stop her before she could hurt anyone else". When she returned to her home, Dexter was waiting for her. After his ambush and an awkward struggle, Dexter was finally able to overpower her, injecting her with a syringe similar to the one she planned to use on Harry. Following a brief ritual, Dexter ended her life with his knife. Referenced: (Flashback sequence): season one, episode three, "Popping Cherry".

Doakes spots a man carrying a bag of groceries and yells at him to stop. Being the bad guy that he is, he drops his grocery bag and runs off, with Doakes in pursuit. They run under the bridge and gunfire is exchanged. Interestingly, during the entire length of the bridge scene, which involves crossing more than half the length of the bridge, stopping, doing a three point turn, driving back, stopping and then getting out of the car - not one other vehicle is seen on the bridge. Not very likely given the amount of traffic usually shown in Miami during the series. Bridge closed for filming, anybody?

Angel suggests: "two circus clowns dancing", whilst Dexter counters with: "Ah, it looks like a lobster. See the claws?" Angel asks: "Why do bloodstains always look like crustaceans to you?" Dexter answers: "I like seafood". Angel says: "Rorschach would say you have a hard time relating to others". Hermann Rorschach was a Swiss Freudian psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who invented a test based on inkblots (known as the Rorschach inkblot test). Hence the fake answers of inkblots and butterflies (apparently, a common image seen when viewing an inkblot).

"Well, not quite", he thinks, as the goldfish re-surfaces, so he flushes it again, this time for good. The interesting thing about this scene is that after the goldfish re-surfaces, it swims around quite briskly. So, the question remains, why was it being buried at sea?

As the camera pans out we see that he is at a crime scene, standing over a body, trying to re-create the movements that would have caused the spatter patterns nearby. The ever-exasperated Doakes approaches Dexter and says: "I swear, Morgan, after this case I'm submitting your ass for psychiatric evaluation".

After a kill, Dexter would often slice his victims into several smaller pieces, place those pieces is large garbage bags, and sail to his preselected deep water location in the Bay Harbor, and throw the bags overboard to their final resting places.
