25 young, single ladies were waiting to meet Bret when the show began, though only 20 of them could actually enter the house. Bret put Big John in charge of choosing which five left before entering the house.

During the introductions, Nikki (a.k.a. DJ Lady Tribe) performed a rap song that she wrote on the back of some information sheets. Bret and some of the other contestants commented negatively on this in the voiceovers. In her exit interview on the VH1 website, Nikki explained that all the contestants are required to get tested for STDs as part of the screening process. She was inspired to write a rap song while they were waiting and someone handed her the information sheets to write on. She claimed she was not aware of what she had written on.

Constandina was a belly dancer who was into spirituality and wore a bindi (dot) on her third eye. Although she didn't win a date with Bret in the wedding challenge, he did appear to enjoy her dance. I believe the term he used to describe it was "Taj Mah-HI-YO!" Bret eliminated Constandina after she told him she had taken a three-year vow of celibacy. In the reunion show, she revealed that not only had she broken the vow of celibacy, but she had actually gotten married!

Everyone wants her to go home but Bret decides at the first elimination to keep her, mostly because he has been in similarly inebriated states and thinks she deserves a second chance. Tiffany's catch phrase "Don't threaten me with a good time" is the name of the first episode and she says this phrase several times - until she is eliminated in episode two.

Erin openly told some of the girls that she had an ex-fiancé whom she was to be getting married to in the upcoming May. Heather overheard this and told Bret, who didn't know who to believe. Erin was eliminated in episode 5 when Bret learned she was upset when she heard Justin Timberlake was visiting her workplace and she would have been serving him.

Ashley, Farrah and Gia were part of the Blondetourage, along with Nikki, Melissa, and possibly Brittaney Starr. Marcia was a brunette Brazilian. In the first episode, Ashley picks on her just for being a brunette, which is odd, considering that most members of the Blondetourage are probably natural brunettes themselves.

The girls have to compete against each other in various challenges including finding Bret's guitar pick in a dumpster, getting changed in a Porto-Potty, hooking up amplifiers and correctly putting the lyrics to "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" in order. Brandi M. comes out as the ultimate winner and gets a private date with Bret at a hockey game. Sam gives it a good run though and is the final competitor against Brandi in the relay race. She does pretty well considering she is wearing sexy lingerie and is filthy from rolling around in garbage!

The teams were: Heather and Magdalena, Lacey and Erin, Sam and Brandi C, Brandi M and Jes, and Mia and Rodeo. The challenge ended in a tie, making Heather and Magdalena win as well as Sam and Brandi C. Bret and the guest judge were confused about Rodeo's choice of lyrics which let the song down, causing Rodeo to cry. Rodeo was eliminated before the ceremony began as Bret told her to go to her son, giving her his hat.

Courtney got expelled because she got too drunk and passed out. Sharon says that Charm School can't help her, but a drug rehabilitation program can.

Things escalate quickly and Lacey hopes that Dallas will actually hit her, ensuring that Dallas will be booted from the house. Dallas does push Lacy but really, what choice did she have? Rodeo finally steps in and puts Lacey in a strong arm lock and tells her to back off. What causes the rift? Lacey is ethically opposed to using animals for food and clothing and Dallas owns (and sometimes flaunts) several fur outfits.

Jes and Heather knew themselves that they were the MVPs for their teams, and it was neck and neck until Jes scored the last point. This was the first solo date in the show. For Jes and Bret's date, he played an acoustic version of 'All I Ever Needed' for her and they had a romantic meal together.

Heather appeared in two episodes trying to get to know the girls better for Bret. Lacey guest appeared in the episode with the LA Roller Derby girls.

The girls are divided into two teams and must come up with an album design for Bret. Jes is the creative director of her team and Sam and Lacey pose for the photo. They win with their good-versus-evil album cover and Jes goes on the date, much to Lacey's disappointment because she feels she did most of the work for the challenge. But regardless, while Sam and Lacey are on their group date with Bret, Sam talks to him privately and tells him to watch out for Lacey's manipulative behavior. Except for Heather, everyone hates Lacey and Bret is starting to wonder if he is seeing something in Lacey that the others can't or if the wool is being pulled over his eyes. By the way, Mia is eliminated in this episode for her poor performance in the challenge and for the fact that she hasn't really put herself out there for Bret.

Jes said in the voiceover that this was a compliment for her. Lacey saw this task as an opportunity to throw other girls under the bus and make her look like the better choice for Bret, but she got really angry when the other girls stated she was not sincere.

Maria suffered a stroke and had to go to the hospital, so she was unable to continue the show. In the reunion show extras, she tearfully told Bret that she felt that she might have won if only she could have stuck around. Kami left the show after a triple date with Bret, Ashley and Beverly that ended in Bret's room. Apparently she saw (and possibly participated in) something disturbing that night. Melissa was eliminated because apparently she was overheard talking to someone (presumably a boyfriend) on a cell phone. Not only were women were not supposed to have cell phones (or boyfriends, for that matter), but Melissa apparently committed the heinous crime of insulting Bret's hair! This made Bret furious and he actually swore at her during elimination. In her exit interview, Melissa claims that she did not have a phone or a boyfriend, and that Natasha and Brittanya (whom she knew outside the show) had lied about her. She claims that the phone conversation we hear on the show took place after elimination, not before.
