Nefarious tries to unleash the Z'grute on Ratchet, Clank, and Qwark in the intro. But it instantly turns on Nefarious, and tries to destroy the city in general, rather than have it destroy the trio. Nefarious is then forced into joining them in stopping it.

Utilising the Jet-Packs to slow their descent, the quartet find themselves echoing the words of Status Quo as they go down, down, deeper and down into the depths of the Deadgrove. At the very bottom awaits the Wigwump, a giant worm-like monster with a rather xenophobic attitude. Anything and anyone invading its burrow suffers the wrath of the Wigwump. Fortunately, the quartet are able to dodge its surprise attacks on the way down and its volley of fire and debris on the cavern floor. Once the dust settles and the Wigwump is no more, the group return to the surface and continue on to the Northern Extraterrestrial Sorting Terminal.

Answer: Doctor Nefarious

Originally the main villain in both "Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal" (2004) and "Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time" (2009), Dr. Nefarious is caught up in the events of "Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One" (2011) and has to work with the heroes instead of against them. Although his evil nature continues to express himself, he does grow as a character as the others show him trust and compassion. Originally an organic being, Nefarious was bullied by Qwark when they took the same 9th grade biology class, and a subsequent attempt to get revenge ended up with Nefarious becoming a robot. When excited, Dr. Nefarious tends to freeze up and play the audio from the soap opera "Lance and Janice."

As the dim-witted Galactic President Qwark travels to the heart of Luminopolis to receive his Intergalactic Tool of Justice prize, accompanied by Ratchet and Clank, Dr. Nefarious makes his appearance and re-animates a suspended light-eating Z'Grute, who begins to terrorise the city and feed on all the light as a means of regenerating health. The quartet then fight their way through the city, defeating the Z'Grute's minions, to finally face it atop the great tower of Luminopolis, where he is brought down using the city's fusion turret defences. All this commotion, however, attracts the attention of the Ephemeris, a huge creature collector that snaps up the Z'Grute and the quartet.

The Aldaros Plains were once joined together but with the arrival of the Gravity Bots, the area was transformed into an aerial archipelago of floating islands. Such is the influence of the Gravity Bots that the change in gravity also affects sentient creatures that enter their range. For the quartet, this means they are able to jump to much greater heights than normal and access areas that were previously unreachable. The Aldaros Plains are home to the Tharpods, a race of peaceful, nature-loving aliens who seem very inconvenienced by the effects of the Gravity Bots.

Answer: Captain Qwark

When playing as Clank, the larger Qwark can somehow shrink down to fit on Clank's back when his help is not needed. Captain Copernicus Leslie Qwark becomes President of the Polaris galaxy after taking credit for defeating Dr. Nefarious in "Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time" (2009). Originally working against Ratchet and Clank in their first game, "Ratchet & Clank" (2002), Qwark has become an ally to the duo. Qwark is a coward more interested in glory than anything else, but he is loyal to his friends.

Though the game begins in Luminopolis on Planet Igliak, the quartet are captured and whisked away to a testing facility on Planet Magnus. Upon escaping, the team traverse the gravity-defying Aldaros Plains, navigate through the dangerous Deadgrove, infiltrate the N.E.S.T facility, float through the Octonok Cay, journey through Terawatt Forest, brave the darkness in the Rossa Fields to reach Dr. Croid's research laboratory, explore the orbiting Phonica Moon, blast through the Polar Sea, and conquer the ruined Uzo City, in order to save the planet from the destruction brought about by the Ephemeris.

Pressing L2 makes a beacon and a character say a line, However, they only have one line each, so you will hear a lot of repeats. Ratchet says "I'm over here", Clank says "I am here", Qwark says "Over here Cadets", and Nefarious says "Hey, over here".

Answer: Reflector

The Reflector generates an opaque digital screen in front of the user and can reflect high-energy lasers as well as some enemy projectiles. The gadget comes in particular use when the quartet venture to the orbiting Phonica Moon and attempt to break through the various security defences. The heavily fortified Uzo City also features laser traps only surmountable using the Reflector. Contrary to its name, Captain Qwark's Quantum Deflector does not offer the same protection as the Reflector, focusing instead on absorbing enemy fire rather than reflecting and redirecting dangerous beams of energy.

Answer: Intergalactic Tool of Justice

During the cinematic cutscene before entering the last location, Uzo City, there is a shared moment between Dr. Nefarious and Captain Qwark where they each apologize to the other (in their own ways) and Nefarious hands Qwark a pipe wrench which Qwark exclaims is "the Intergalactic Tool of Justice Award" he was promised at the beginning of the game.

Answer: Tharpod

Native to Magnus, the Tharpods are a race of docile, friendly beings whose planet is at risk of destruction because of the Ephemeris. The quartet are able to escape from the Magnus testing facility thanks to the help of Susie, an young orphaned Tharpod. Susie pops up a few other times during the game during cutscenes, particularly at Uzo City, where she says to Ratchet that she and her friends are preparing to lead an assault on the Ephemeris. Ratchet assures her that being a hero is not always fun and games, but, seeing how she wants to help, tells her that she and her friends can set up a perimeter: "No one in, no one out."

Answer: Beat the first level without anyone dying

It is pretty easy to get, as long as you do it with another human player, as the AI has a tendency to fall off ledges, thus ruining the skill point. Two human players can easily take out all enemies and avoid the ledges.

Answer: Mr. Perkins

Mr. Perkins is a seemingly unique version of a Tank Minion who defends a particular section of the N.E.S.T. facility with his high-capacity shield and dangerous volley of rockets. As ever, taking down Mr. Perkins requires cooperation, with two Mortar Slams required to activate buttons and temporarily power down the shield. Once vulnerable, the team has limited time to get their attacks in before the shield is restored and Mr. Perkins is protected again. If the team uses their Critter Strikes and transforms Mr. Perkins into a tiny critter, they'll complete a skill point.

While it bears some similarity to the Suck Cannon, introduced in the original "Ratchet & Clank" (2003), the Vac-U (also called the Vac-U 4000 in the game) is the most commonly used gadget, as most areas include gaps that can only be traveled by using the Vac-U to launch a teammate across. Fortunately these gaps include target areas to make the launches easier. Other common uses are to capture critters, to put Voltergeists in their sockets, and to move rafts/platforms. An essential part of the game, it is mapped to the circle button and is not part of the selection wheel interface used to select the other weapons/gadgets in the game.

Initially, the Critter Strike creates little pink pigs that roam around and do nothing in particular. Purchasing the Power upgrade from the Apogee vendor turns the pigs into hogs, but also transforms them more quickly. The Elite upgrade changes enemies into large flaming boars that run up to other foes and draw their fire, allowing the enemy to be easily despatched or avoided. The Critter Strike can also have a T-Rex and a Sheep mod attached to it. These mods were available as pre-order early unlock bonuses at several major retailers.

Qwark brings this up when everyone is thinking how to discuss repairing Commander Sprog's voice module after it was heavily damaged from the prior battle with him, causing awkwardness to ensue. This scene is well remembered.

Answer: OmegaTech Frost Cannon

Much like the CryoMine Glove from 'Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time', the OmegaTech Frost Cannon has the ability to freeze enemies in their place and leave them vulnerable to a shattering. Unlike the CryoMine Glove which allows Ratchet to throw proximity mines, the OmegaTech Frost Cannon goes for a more direct approach and shoots a beam of ice at the foe unlucky enough to be around. Multiplying the effects of the gun by having several beams aimed at the same enemy will create a frosty burst of sub-zero power, hurting nearby enemies as well.

Cronk and Zephyr first appeared in 2007's "Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction." The player can see Cronk and Zephyr's trapped spaceship when using the ornithopter through the asteroids to get to Phonica Moon.

Answer: Glob Lobber

The Glob Lobber literally lobs glob, which has two main uses. Scattered across the planet are special plates that, when covered in glob, weigh it down and cause anything attached to it to descend. These plates are usually found on platforms that require lowering, or shields that protect machinery or power sources. When the glob is lobbed onto the ground, it will temporarily immobilise any enemy that should walk onto it. The Quakehammer is obtained in the Deadgrove, and is used to destroy rock blockades or cause fruit to drop from branches. The Reflector is found on Phonica Moon, and can block harmful lasers and redirect other lasers.

It is a bit underwhelming for a hard mode, since dying is only a minor inconvenience. As you revive seconds after falling off a cliff, or can be revived within 10 seconds if you die on land. It is still a bit more challenging when playing on the later levels, which contain many hazards.

Answer: Nevo Binklemeyer

Initially, the quartet believe Nevo Binklemeyer to be the mastermind behind the Ephemeris project; this is later disproved when they discover Binklemeyer is only a puppet in a much larger, much more catastrophic scheme. Effectively enslaved by the Loki Master of Toranux, Binklemeyer worked to modify the Ephemeris to travel to other planets and collect the most dangerous beasts in the known universe. When the quartet reach the Ephemeris in the centre of Uzo City, they discover the Loki Master's true intentions: to utilise Dr. Croid's Protomorphic Energy Extractor to transfer the Loki Master into these beasts so it can conquer the universe. As the quartet face a difficult final battle with the Loki Master possessing a Grivelnox from Rykan V, they manage to separate the spirit from the beast. Without a host to survive inside, the Loki Master dies and the threat is quelled.

Answer: Quantum Deflector

When activated, the Quantum Deflector appears as a translucent green sphere surrounding Captain Qwark, who refers to the weapon as his "Giant Ball of Power." Qwark cannot use weapons inside the "bubble," but is protected from damage. In the US packaging for the game, the reverse of the cover insert contains "alternate" cover art for the game, with a crude crayon drawing of the heroes with Qwark as the dominant figure. This alternate cover art also includes a different title for the game: "Copernicus Qwark's Awesomely Epic 3D Adventure through Time and Space, co-starring, but not important in any way, Ratchet & Clank."

Answer: Mr. Perkins

Guarding the Vertigus Cliffs, Mr. Perkins, a much larger Tank Minion, is sent to battle the quartet at a control room near the top of the facility. Ordinary attacks will not cause any damage because Mr. Perkins is protected by a powerful shield. Using the Vac-Us, performing mortar slams on exposed buttons removes the shield and leaves him vulnerable for a short amount of time. If the quartet can defeat Mr. Perkins by using the Critter Strike and transform him into a pig, then the skill point 'Poor Mr. Perkins' will be obtained.

Answer: Planet Magnus

This is one of the only Ratchet games to focus more on a single planet and the various environments within it, rather than exploring many different planets that all have one environment. Magnus is a very varied planet that has many different biomes, including forests, plains, and tundras.

Answer: Glob Lobber

As an Agorian invention, the Glob Lobber utilises a special substance that clings to special plates and weighs them down. In some areas, this causes bridges to lower and small islands to temporarily overcome the low-gravity conditions in which it resides. The Glob Lobber also works on enemies and can slow them down, giving the quartet a quick advantage in the heat of battle when facing oncoming foes.

Collecting Hero Bolts unlocks different skins for the playable characters. Each character has seven different skins to unlock, which can be a simple color change or a radical change, like a snowman.

You have to buy upgrades now, bit of a shame, but traditional levelling wouldn't have fit the gameplay very well with the more linear and co-op focused gameplay. It would be unfair if one player was getting most of the EXP from enemies, presuming they're killing the most.

Answer: Ephemeris

A collaborative effort between the two great Tharpod scientists Nevo Binklemeyer and Frumpus Croid, Ephemeris' original purpose was to track down Binklemeyer and Croid's cat, Mr. Dinkles, after the two disappear in suspicious circumstances along with Croid's Protomorphic Energy Extractor. However, Ephemeris is modified by Binklemeyer (at the Loki Master's request) and it sets out to scan for and capture the most dangerous beasts in the universe. One such beast is the Light Eating Z'Grute which, at the beginning of the game, tears up Luminopolis when Dr. Nefarious lets it loose on the city. Ephemeris comes to the rescue and scoops it up, though Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark and Dr. Nefarious are also caught in its wake and end up imprisoned in the Magnus Detention Facility.

Slorgs are one of the more unusual foes that the quartet encounter. Slorgs are electrified, and when hit by ammunition will be pushed away in that direction. In this way, they are relatively easy to defeat, as pushing them off into the water will get rid of them quickly. However, the fact that they are electrified and tend to ricochet around erratically when shot can make them very frustrating to avoid, particularly in small, enclosed spaces. When the team face the King Sepiad, they use Slorgs and push them into the king's open mouth when he is vulnerable, causing him to swallow them and take damage because of the electricity.
