Rogue Squadron Trivia Questions

1. Mission 6: The Jade Moon. The Rogues learned about an Imperial supply outpost on the Jade Moon. Who provided the intelligence and planned the mission?

From Quiz
"Rogue Squadron" Chapter II

Answer: Kasan Moor

Kasan was part of the Imperial 128th TIE Interceptor Squadron, an elite squadron comparable to the Rogues. She flew against the Rogues in the mission preceding this one. She had grown disillusioned with the Empire, and when her craft was disabled, she was ready to trade information for her life. She gave the Rogues information on the Imperial supply outpost on the Jade Moon. Luke let her fly an X-wing with the Rogues, but Wedge was still skeptical of her loyalties. After a few missions to prove her allegiance to the Rebels, Wedge warmed up to her, the the three pilots formed the core of the squadron for the rest of the game.

2. Mission 11: Battle Above Taloraan. Like many planets in the "Star Wars" universe, Taloraan appeared to be a single-biome planet. Which planet from the "Star Wars" movies did Taloraan resemble?

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" Chapter III

Answer: Bespin (Gaseous)

Taloraan looked a lot like Bespin, the gas planet from "Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back". A floating city similar to the one seen in the movie could even be flown about. Kasan Moor commented that her squadron had scouted Bespin for an Imperial takeover, but it was too small. Despite all craft taking off from a cruiser in space, not a single mission in "Rogue Squadron" took place in deep space (the closest was the Death Star trench run). Taloraan was the only mission in the game that did not have a "ground" of some kind.

3. Mission 1: Ambush at Mos Eisley. The Rogues were out for an early morning patrol on Tatooine, where the Empire did not have much influence. During their flight, though, they saw moisture farmer homesteads being attacked by what?

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" Chapter I

Answer: Probe Droids

Probe Droids were first seen in 1980, in "The Empire Strikes Back". The Empire used them to search for signs of the Rebel Alliance. One landed on Hoth, and saw the Rebel's shield generator before Han Solo destroyed it. They were black, floating droids, loaded with sensors and dangling manipulator arms. In "Rogue Squadron", they were weakly armoured and armed enemies, taking only one shot to destroy. They often came in large groups, though, and could sometimes be difficult to shoot.

4. Where are the four extra enemies that need to be killed for a gold medal on 'Ambush at Mos Eisley'? (two Stormtroopers and two Dewbacks)

From Quiz Star Wars Rogue Squadron (N64)

Answer: On the far left side of the map

The enemies are very hard to find in the begining and will often take more than one try. For a hint, complete the mission first, and then go back and find those droids. Then kill the droids and complete the mission for the gold medal on your next try.

5. What is the default ship for this level? (mission 11)

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" 6/7

Answer: A-wing

The A-wing is the fastest/second fastest ship the alliance has.

6. What ship do you fly in this mission? (mission 7)

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" 4/5

Answer: Airspeeder

The Airspeeder is more commonly known as the "snowspeeder" but it can fly over any terrain.

7. How many possible crash sites are there? (Mission 3)

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" 2/3

Answer: 3

One is to the left of the starting point, another to the right, and the final is dead ahead.

8. In the game the first mission is Tatooine Training. For the mission you fly in a craft and complete various training activities. What is the name of the craft that you fly?

From Quiz Rogue Leader

Answer: T-16 Skyhopper

The T-16 Skyhopper has Ion canon and Proton Bombs.

9. Up to how many "Game Boy Advances" can be used during the game when plugged into the "Nintendo Gamecube"?

From Quiz Rebel Strike: Rogue Squadron III

Answer: 2

If you have two GBAs and two GBA/GCN cables you can link up for wingman commands that replaces the Control Pad for certain players. This feature is cool because it basically allows you to play with four players at once!

10. How long after the Battle of Yavin dose this mission take place? (mission 1)

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" 1

Answer: 6 months

6 months after the destruction of the first Death Star, Luke Skywalker put together Rogue Squadron from the elite pilots.

11. Mission 16: The Battle of Calamari In this mission, the watery planet of Mon Calamari was under attack from the Empire. What new weapons of war had the Empire deployed in this battle?

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" Special

Answer: World Devastators

In 1991, "Star Wars" began a new publishing era. The first new comic series to be produced was "Dark Empire", in which the Emperor was reborn, Luke fell to the Dark Side, and World Devastators, a Galaxy Gun, and the Eclipse-class Star Destroyer all made appearances. In the comic, the World Devastators were indeed used to attack Mon Calamari, but were nigh-unstoppable. Despite the New Republic using new V-wing fighters, the World Devastators ultimately had to be destroyed by sabotage from the inside.

12. Mission 6: The Jade Moon. While Rogue Squadron provided air cover, who was on the ground leading the tanks and commandos?

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" Chapter II

Answer: Crix Madine

Crix Madine was played by Dermot Crowley in the movie "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi". In "Rogue Squadron", after he joined the Rebel Alliance, he often led ground forces during missions, with the Rogues flying cover. Kapp Dendo was a Devoronian Rebel commando who appeared often in the "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" comic series, by Michael A. Stackpole. Judder Page was the leader of a different Rebel commando team who appeared in many different "Star Wars" novels. Pash Cracken was a Rebel fighter pilot who also appeared in lots of "Star Wars" novels.

13. Mission 11: Battle Above Taloraan. What was the Empire harvesting on Taloraan?

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" Chapter III

Answer: Tibanna Gas

On Taloraan, the Imperials and civilians were harvesting Tabanna gas, which was required for blaster and laser powerpacks. This was the same kind of mining operation Lando Calrissian was running on Bespin in "Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back". Rogue Squadron was sent in A-wings to disrupt the Imperial production, while avoiding civilian targets. Cortosis and phrik were both alloys that could resist lightsabers. Bacta was a medicine.

14. Mission 1: Ambush at Mos Eisley. After the Rogues saved all the homesteads, what did the Empire use to attack the city of Mos Eisley?

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" Chapter I

Answer: TIE Bombers

TIE Bombers were similar to TIE Fighters. Their solar panel wings were curved, and they had a second section between them. One pod was for the pilot, while the other carried large amounts of ordnance. TIE Bombers were rarely a threat to the Rogues themselves, but could level a city or friendly ground targets very quickly, if not dealt with. TIE Bombers were seen in "The Empire Strikes Back" when the Empire was searching for the Millennium Falcon in the asteroid field.

15. Which ship comes with an R2 unit?

From Quiz Ships of "Rogue Squadron"

Answer: Y-Wing

The X-Wing and Y-Wing both come with R2 units. R2 units repair damage over time until they're destroyed (you'll hear them squeal when they're destroyed). Other ships just have to put up with the damage they receive and make the best of it.

16. What is the bonus on 'Defection at Corellia'?

From Quiz Star Wars Rogue Squadron (N64)

Answer: Seeker Proton Torpedoes

You will find this bonus in the middle of the second city. Be careful not to crash your speeder. It took me multiple tries to do this. It is definitely worth it for the 'Liberation of Gerard V'.

17. How many missile turrets are there? (mission 15)

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" 8/9

Answer: 5

It may seem like a lot when you are playing, but there are only five.

18. What large Rebel ship follows you? (mission 11)

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" 6/7

Answer: Blockade Runner

The Blockade Runner in this mission basically does nothing. It follows you from platform to platform firing few, if any, lasers. And if it takes enough damage to explode, you don't lose the mission, you just continue on.

19. How many scanners do you have to destroy on your approach to the yards? (mission 7)

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" 4/5

Answer: 6

You have to destroy all of the scanners or else it's game over.

20. How many ground units come out of the imperial shuttle? (Mission 3)

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" 2/3

Answer: 7

The first wave consist of three tank droids, and an AT-ST. The next wave has three AT-PTs.

21. How many bonus levels (levels that can be purchased with medal points) are there in the "Single Player" mode?

From Quiz Rebel Strike: Rogue Squadron III

Answer: 5

They don't require as many points as the ones from "Rogue Leader" needed. This game was created to be much easier to beat.

22. What is the minimum mission completion time for the silver medal? (mission 1)

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" 1

Answer: 4:00

The bronze medal requires 5:00, and the gold needs 3:00.

23. Including bonus missions, how many missions are there in total in this game?

From Quiz Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II

Answer: 15

There are 16 main missions in the "Nintendo 64" version, plus 3 bonus missions. You can unlock 5 bonus missions to add onto the 10 main ones in "Star Wars: Rogue Leader".

24. Mission 17: Beggar's Canyon Luke Skywalker took his new friends from Rogue Squadron on a tour of Beggar's Canyon on Tatooine, showing them where he grew up and learned to fly. What ships were the Rogues flying in this mission?

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" Special

Answer: Skyhoppers

In "Episode IV: A New Hope", Luke Skywalker was seen playing with a model of a T-16 Skyhopper while C-3PO enjoyed his oil bath. Luke had a full sized Skyhopper, which he practiced in Beggar's Canyon with while blasting womp rats. It's because of all this pilot training through canyons and hitting small targets that Luke was able to blow up the first Death Star (that, and he had the Force).

25. Mission 12: Escape From Fest. Rebel commandos had managed to infiltrate an Imperial base, but were discovered during their escape. What had the Rebels stolen?

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" Chapter III

Answer: Three AT-PTs

Rebel infiltrators had managed to steal three AT-PTs (All Terrain Personal Transports), but then got trapped behind a gate. AT-PTs were relatively weak, and were attacked by AT-ATs, tank droids, and bombers. Only one needed to make it to the rendezvous to complete the mission, but all three had to survive to get the gold medal.

26. Mission 2: Rendezvous on Barkhesh. After flying around Tatooine, the Rogues were sent to meet a Rebel cell on the planet Barhesh. What was the Rogues' job on Barkhesh?

From Quiz "Rogue Squadron" Chapter I

Answer: Escort a convoy

The Rogues were frequently called upon to defend friendly units from the Empire's forces. On Barkhesh, a Rebel convoy of supplies was travelling through a canyon to a rendezvous with a shuttle. The Rogues had to fend off TIE Bombers and AT-STs to ensure the convoy would survive.

27. Which alliance starship does not exist?

From Quiz "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II and III" Starships

Answer: S-Wing

The B-Wing is a playable craft in the "Rogue Squadron" games. The K-Wing and E-Wing are assault starships for the alliance that have heavy weapons such as lasers and missiles and torpedoes. Most craft are named for letters of the alphabet, but there is no startup simply named the S-Wing.

28. Which ship will always be used if there's an AT-AT in the mission?

From Quiz Ships of "Rogue Squadron"

Answer: Snowspeeder

There are two ways to destroy an AT-AT: pour lasers into it until it explodes (it requires over a thousand lasers blasts), or to wrap it up in a Tow Cable. The only ship fitted with a Tow Cable is the Snowspeeder, which is why whenever there's a mission with an AT-AT in it, you'll be flying a Snowspeeder. Even when you unlock every ship for every mission (supposedly), you cannot use any other ship on a mission with an AT-AT. The only exception is the Naboo Starfighter, which must be unlocked using secret codes. If you use the Naboo Starfighter in an Snowspeeder mission, you'll be hard pressed to take down any AT-ATs that you may be required to destroy, before the AT-AT reaches its goal and destroys the target you're trying to protect.

29. The voice of the mission briefing on 'Liberation of Gerard V' calls the Imperial Governor what?

From Quiz Star Wars Rogue Squadron (N64)

Answer: Cowardly

"The cowerdly imperial governor is looting the city." That is the first sentence in the 'Liberation of Gerard V' introduction.
