Plants vs Zombies Trivia Questions

1. Why are catapult plants best to use on the roof?

From Quiz
"Plants Vs Zombies"

Answer: The roof is slanted so some plants can't shoot across the lane

Since the roof is slanted, things like peas will get destroyed on the slanted ramp. Catapults launch their ammunition in the air, avoiding the slant on the roof.

2. The first ten levels of the game are played in which humble location?

From Quiz "Plants vs. Zombies" Mixture

Answer: Your front yard

Pretty much the entire game is situated around your humble abode as zombies tear through the front yard, the backyard, and subsequently the roof in their sometimes not-so-feeble attempts to get into your house to eat your brains...and they will if you don't use an arsenal of typically-cheery flowers to protect you every step of the way. The first twenty levels of the game, stages one and two, are held in the front yard and will not feature any zombies that don't spend their time shambling along the ground in some way. It can't always be this easy though.

3. What early plant is used to generate sunlight?

From Quiz Plants-- Not Zombies

Answer: Sunflower

The Sunflower is the first seed packet you obtain in the game, simply by completing Level 1-1 in your front yard by stacking Peashooters where necessary. While sunlight will always generate from the sky on a regular basis it is far from an ideal option for your battle plan to be without Sunflowers. Every short while they will generate 25 Sun; you can upgrade the Sunflower by speaking to Crazy Dave and buying a Twin Sunflower from the Twiddydinkies shop in the back of his station wagon. They cost 50 Sun to plant.

4. Newspaper Zombie wears a coat, tie and boxer shorts. What pattern is on his boxer shorts?

From Quiz "Plants vs Zombies" - Roots to Brainz

Answer: Pink hearts

Newspaper Zombie walks at normal speed until his newspaper is taken away by a shot from any defensive plant. Then he gets mad, growls and quickly speeds toward your house in search of brains.

5. What is the first plant that you get that has been dropped by a zombie?

From Quiz Types of Plants

Answer: Sunflower

The Peashooter is the first plant you get but it is not dropped by zombies. After the first level you will have two plants: Peashooter and Sunflower.

6. What do Kernel-pults fling?

From Quiz Plants vs Zombies

Answer: kernels and butter

In "Plants vs Zombies", Kernel-pults are mostly used on the roof levels. A Kernel-pult is a piece of corn (not a kernel).

7. Simple game: You get only one type of plant, namely the wall-nuts. For variety, however, some of them are explosive or double-sized. You don't plant them either - you'd rather have them bounce around. Which mini-game am I describing?

From Quiz Things That Need Your BRAINS!

Answer: Wall-nut Bowling

"Wall-nut Bowling" exists in two versions, a rather easy variant without the double-sized nut and a more frenetic one with all three nut types. The basic nut bounces diagonally between zombies, the red explosive one incinerates all zombies in an area around the first hit and the big one rolls straight down a path, flattening everything in its way.

8. The first key in identifying plants from zombies is by appearance. Which being is usually taller than the other?

From Quiz Telling Plants from Zombies - the Easy Way

Answer: Zombies & Zombie

Zombies are almost always taller than plants. Tall-nuts, which are used by plants to block attacks, appears to be as tall as zombies, at least since the zombies tend to stoop a bit when they walk. Tall-nuts are effective as zombie blockers because they take so long to destroy, thus subjecting the zombies to attacks by the plants.

9. This plant is effective against the Buckethead Zombie, Football Zombie, Jack-in-the-Box Zombie, Ladder Zombie, Pogo Zombie and Screen Door Zombie. What is this plant that weakens these zombies?

From Quiz "Plants Vs. Zombies" - Do You Know Your Plants?

Answer: Magnet-shroom

Though you have the word 'magnet' in Gold Magnet, it only picks-up coins. The Magnet-shroom picks up any metal objects held or worn by the zombies.

10. What is one of the purposes of plants?

From Quiz "Plants vs. Zombies" for Android

Answer: to stop zombies

Plants are placed in different rows or columns on different levels. They are used to attack zombies. There are other purposes that they have as well, such as protecting plants, etc.

11. What is the first plant you start with in the beginning?

From Quiz Plants vs. Zombies

Answer: Peashooter

The first zombie you encounter take the least hits to destroy them. They absorb ten normal damage shots before getting killed.

12. In the game, obviously, there are both plants and zombies. Which of them can shoot peas in the extended GOTY (Game of the Year) version?

From Quiz Plants Vs. Zombies

Answer: Both

This was perhaps a little tricky, because on the PC only the plants shoot peas. However, in the extended home console version of the game, more bonus levels are added, and special levels are added throughout. One of the new levels added had a special challenge; the zombie heads were replaced with peashooter heads and even wall-nut heads. This made defeating the zombies a little more difficult. They were harder to destroy and they also destroyed plants before actually reaching them.

13. One early plant in the game can be used as a barricade to slow down advancing zombie hordes. It's based on what existing tough nut?

From Quiz Plants-- Not Zombies

Answer: Walnut

Dubbed the 'Wall-nut', this charming little plant simply likes to help out, and doesn't mind being chomped on (until it's too late, at least). Costing only 50 Sun, the Wall-nut will create a barrier for all zombies that can't simply vault overtop (and there are pole-vaulting zombies). Later on in the game, in the third stage (in the backyard), you'll also find a seed packet for the Tall-Nut, a Wall-Nut which grows at double the height; it needs 125 Sun to be planted and can only be passed by flying foes.

14. What type of container does Imp Zombie ride in?

From Quiz "Plants vs Zombies" - Roots to Brainz

Answer: A trash can

Imp Zombie is the smallest of all zombies and usually rides in a trash can hung from Gargantuar's back, eventually getting grabbed and hurled downfield at the most inopportune time. According to the Suburban Zombie Almanac, he has great skills at the martial arts and bare-knuckle fighting.

15. What is the best plant to use against the Screen Door Zombie?

From Quiz Types of Plants

Answer: Fume-Shroom

Puff-Shroom costs zero sun but can only fire a short distance. Fume-Shroom can shoot past screen doors so they are the most effective. Peashooters shoot peas and Hypno-Shroom, when eaten, will make a zombie turn around and fight for you.

16. What is the first zen garden plant Crazy Dave gives you?

From Quiz Plants vs Zombies

Answer: Marigold

A zen garden is a place where you get plants from playing "Plants vs Zombies" and you water them and use fertilizer. You can also buy bug spray, music, an upgrade for the watering can and more gardens.

17. Plants and zombies can be told apart by the weapons they use. Which being occasionally approaches with a pole vault?

From Quiz Telling Plants from Zombies - the Easy Way

Answer: Zombies

While most zombies stumble along at a snail's pace, the frenzied pole-vaulting zombie jogs along at a good pace and uses the pole vault to leap over obstacles and plants. It can be slowed down or destroyed by some of the plant's weapons, and should it make it to the end of a row, another weapon awaits which can decapitate it.

18. What is used to purchase plants?

From Quiz "Plants vs. Zombies" for Android

Answer: sun

On a sunny level, sun can fall from the sky. They give money, which can be used to purchase plants and other stuff. Sunflowers can also be planted in order to generate sun.

19. Which zombie leads the huge wave of zombies?

From Quiz Plants vs. Zombies

Answer: Flag Zombie

The Flag Zombie moves a slightly faster than the regular zombies. It also absorbs ten normal damage shots before getting killed.

20. If a zombie can successfully get through your plants, what final item is used to stop him before he reaches your home?

From Quiz Plants Vs. Zombies

Answer: Lawnmower

If a zombie in a row manages to eat through all your plants, there is one final line of defense. A lawnmower sits in each row, and will activate and mow over any zombie in that particular row. That can save the day for you once; but after it is used in a level that row is completely unguarded, and more zombies may arrive. If the lawnmower is missing and the zombies get through again, it's game over. NOTE: Lawnmowers do not work on water or roofs without purchasing special abilities.

21. What plant cannot be jumped over?

From Quiz "Plants Vs Zombies"

Answer: Tall-Nut

The Cactus can pop balloons. The Cactus' spikes cannot be lit on fire with Torchwood. The plant Apple-Barrier cannot be earned in any way as it does not exist. Wall-Nut is a smaller and weaker version of Tall-Nut which is unlocked very early in the game.

22. Coffee Bean is tired for the day. Which plant was received in the Fog Level?

From Quiz Plants' Day Off

Answer: Pumpkin

Pumpkin is a plant that protects other plants. Use this with a tallnut to get maximum protection.

23. What mine plant, found in the first stage of the game, will explode like a bomb when zombies come down the lane?

From Quiz Plants-- Not Zombies

Answer: Potato Mine

With a big "SPUD-OW", the Potato Mine will cause massive damage to any zombies in the immediate vicinity by performing a suicide mission. You can plant a Potato Mine for only 25 Sun, but it does take a short amount of time for the thing to activate, leaving it vulnerable for about fifteen seconds as it roots. The more-powerful Cherry Bomb is obtained earlier. For 150 Sun it explodes in a large square area, killing zombies in three lanes. This is an immediate explosion-- no rooting in.

24. In Vasebreaker Endless mode, how many vases are placed on your lawn at the beginning of every level?

From Quiz "Plants vs Zombies" - Roots to Brainz

Answer: Thirty-five

The layout is always the same in Vasebreaker Endless. There are 7 rows and 5 columns and each layout includes two special green vases that never house a zombie.

25. What happens when Newspaper Zombie loses his newspaper?

From Quiz Types of Plants

Answer: He gets angry and becomes faster

His speed is faster after he loses his newspaper. The best way to kill him is to bomb him or hit him with everything you've got before he reaches the house.

26. What is the first plant you get?

From Quiz Plants vs Zombies

Answer: Peashooter

In the first level, you don't have Sunflowers but sun does fall from the sky. A Puff-shroom you get in the night levels and a Cabbage-Pult you get in the roof levels.

27. For once, you're essentially playing a normal level, but your goal is not to repel all zombies but to plant fourteen of one specific plant type in a predetermined pattern. Which mini-game am I describing here?

From Quiz Things That Need Your BRAINS!

Answer: Seeing Stars

In "Seeing Stars", you need to plant a total of fourteen starfruit plants in a pattern itself resembling a five-pointed star. The level itself is a standard one with normal sun generation and planting costs and the opposing zombies are not very strong - just numerous.

28. Plants and zombies have different methods of attack. In the main game (not the mini-games), which being shoots peas?

From Quiz Telling Plants from Zombies - the Easy Way

Answer: Plants

You wouldn't think that peas would be an effective weapon against zombies, but if they hit a zombie repeatedly, they can knock its head off. And as everyone who has played a zombie video game knows, zombies don't survive very well without their heads.

29. The Bungee Zombie hates this plant. This plant throws them away. What was the name of the plant?

From Quiz "Plants Vs. Zombies" - Do You Know Your Plants?

Answer: Umbrella Leaf

The Umbrella Leaf protects eight of your nearby plants. It is good against Bungee and Catapult Zombies! This plant costs 100 suns.

30. What is the name of the book that contains a list of plants and zombies?

From Quiz "Plants vs. Zombies" for Android

Answer: the suburban almanac

The suburban almanac is obtained after completing level 2-4. It lists all the plants and zombies in the game. Those that were encountered can be selected in order to view a description of different zombies or plants along with the amount of damage, recharge time, etc. that they have or can do also.
