Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The canine agility club, 'NADAC', stands for?

Answer: North American Dog Agility Council

NADAC is an organization that was founded in 1994. It is a canine, or dog, agility club. Dog agility trials test a dog's ability to work its way around an obstacle course while being guided by its owner/handler. The handler has to guide the dog through the obstacle course, getting a fast time and no faults to qualify.
2. In NADAC, the levels are Elite, Novice, and Open. Put them in the order from beginners to expert levels.

Answer: Novice, Open, and Elite

Novice is the beginner level. Even if you've participated in other clubs at the top level, you need to start at Novice.
3. My dog just got her Novice Regular, or standard, title. What would be added to her registered name?

Answer: NAC

You have to get four qualifying scores in each class to move up a level in that class.
4. Are NADAC and AKC the same thing?

Answer: No, but both organisations run agility trials

AKC stands for the American Kennel Club. Along with agility trials, they host obedience, best in show, rally, tracking and field events.
5. How many classes are there normally in a trial (1 day) when counting Regulars 1 & 2 as one class?

Answer: 6-8 classes

The eight classes in NADAC are Regulars 1 and 2, Touch 'N Go, hoopers, jumpers, weavers, chances, and tunnelers.
6. Which of these breeds are excluded from agility trials?

Answer: None. Every breed of dog can compete in NADAC

NADAC allows every breed of dog, including mixed breeds, to compete in it, even though dogs like border collies, Australian shepherds, Shetland sheepdogs, and other herding breeds are more commonly found in the ring.
7. The creator of NADAC has deemed the teeter, tire jump, chute, and the curved tunnel dangerous, therefore removing them. The curved tunnel was replaced with which obstacle?

Answer: Barrels

Some people fear that if NADAC's creator continues to remove obstacles because he/she thinks they are dangerous, all NADAC will be is hoops, straight tunnels, barrels and jumps.
8. How many trials can you participate in in a year?

Answer: As many as you want.

NADAC earns money through trials and donations. They host trials in Victoria, Australia, and all over the U.S. and Canada.
9. How old do dogs have to be to participate in trials?

Answer: 18 months

By the time your dog is 18 months old, their bones will be done growing, or almost done. If you start earlier, you will have joint problems later.
10. How many Qs (Qualifying times without faults) do you have to get to move up to the next level?

Answer: 4 Qs

If you are at Novice and get 4 Qs, you move to Open. After 4 Qs in open, you can compete in Elite.
