Logics and Riddles I Trivia Quiz

I really enjoy playing quizzes that require a little activity of both braincells. Because I think European people have some troubles with the word puzzles, my first little quiz deals with numerical stuff. Enjoy!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Fill in the blank. 1, 2, 5, 10, 17, 26, ...?

Answer: 37

Every number is a square + 1. 1=0x0+1, 2=1x1+1, 5=2x2+1, ... So 37=6x6+1. Another solution could be: 'you are adding continously higher odd numbers. 1+1 2+3 5+5 10+7 etc' was pointed out to me by Machiabelly...
2. I give you a few numbers, I'd like you to give me the next one: 1, 11, 21, 1211, ?

Answer: 111221

When you read it very slow, you'll see. The first number reads : one times 1. The second one reads: two times 1. So, the number we search for is: one times 1, one times 2, two times 1.
3. Fill in the blank: 1, 3, 6, 11, 20, 37, ...

Answer: 70

The number 2 is the clue here. when you multiply '2' n-times with itself and ad n to the result, you become this row. Starting with n=0, you get 1 (a number to the power zero equals always 1) + 0 = 1. For n=1, we get 2+1=3. For n=2 we get 2x2+2=6. We were looking for n=6 : 2x2x2x2x2x2+6 = 70
4. Take a 3 by 3 square. The first row reads: 3, 5, 8. The second one: 4, 1, 7 and the last one: 14, 12, ... Which number is missing?

Answer: 30

The third row is the sum of row 1 and row 2 multiplied by two...
5. What's the sum of the numbers 1 to 20 (inclusive)?

Answer: 210
