Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. N, S and W have lost their way. Who can help them get back on track?

Answer: E

The letter E completes the compass directions, North, South, West and East.
2. C, N and O want to do some lab experiments, but to do so, they most importantly need which partner?

Answer: H

While there are a small number of organic compounds that don't contain any hydrogen, in general, organic chemistry requires carbon (C), hydrogen (H), oxygen (O) and nitrogen (N) as its four most common elements.
3. Next door from them, C, A and T want to create life (which doesn't have to be feline). Whom do they need to do so?

Answer: G

In a completely non-feline sense, C (Cytosine), A (Adenine) and T (Thymine) require G (Guanine) to complete the four bases that make up the genetic code in DNA. U (Uracil) is used in RNA instead of thymine.
4. H, S and D want to have a good game. Whom should they call on?

Answer: C

All of these letters have a place in card games, but only the C (clubs) matches the other three suits of H (hearts), S (spades) and D (diamonds). Kings, Jacks and Aces are all ranks.
5. C, Y and M want to print a nice flyer, but again, they are missing a prospective partner in crime. Who is the right choice?

Answer: K

All of these letters refer to colors, however the four ink colors used in printing are C (cyan), M (magenta), Y (yellow) and K (black - B is used for blue). R (red), G (green) and B (blue) are used for screen colors.
6. B, A and T are trying to make some music, but are missing whom?

Answer: S

These letters refer to the most commonly employed singing voices in a mixed chorus - S (Soprano), A (Alto), T (Tenor) and B (Bass). O (Oboe), V (Violin) and F (Flute) are all occasionally used in musical scores, but they're not voice registers.
7. Let's stay with music for a moment: Mr. Paganini is looking for something to go with A, G and E. Can you help him?

Answer: D

Hopefully you remembered that Nicolo Paganini is best known as a violinist - the four strings of a violin are tuned in G, D, A and E from lowest to highest. Interestingly, a Danish violinist and composer of the 19th century was actually named Niels Gade - a quite fitting name for anyone having mastered the art of the stringed instrument!
8. S, A and D are not depressed, they just want to do some maths. Whom would they be looking for?

Answer: M

In this combination, the letters simply refer to the basic arithmetic operations of addition (A), subtraction (S), multiplication (M) and division (D).
9. W, S and D are desperate to play a video game, but they wouldn't be able to do so without their trusted partner to the name of ____ .

Answer: A

There are no abbreviations in this question - the letters simply refer to the keys used by most left-handed players for directional control of a video game character: W for up, S for down, A for left and D for right. This is the same layout as the arrow keys would be for right-handed players. (In some games, WASD control is used together with the mouse - the keys move the player and the mouse determines firing direction or other secondary control).
10. Starting at S, we heat things up and go to L, then to G and end up at which letter?

Answer: P

In chemistry and physics, the states of matter are known as solid, liquid, gas and plasma, usually denoted by the (lowercase) letters s, l, g and p in parentheses after the substance name or formula, thus H2O(s) would be ice.
