Answer: auctioned education

Seven- and eight-letter bingos are much more common, with an average-to-good tournament player averaging around two per game.

'Cautioned' is the only other anagram with these letters.
2. As can be imagined, because of the sheer length, many niners would have to incorporate an 'S'. These words both use two esses- 'Army ranks with distinction'.

Answer: sergeants greatness

The value of the 'S' tile is highlighted in the longer words. I only play an 'S' for less than about 30 points if I have more than one of them.
3. In 1974 a British magazine held a competition to find the highest scoring game. Ron Jerome submitted an entry that included a score of 1539 for a single word! This competition is slightly easier- 'Easterners kin'.

Butts recognised the value of that one tile, and reduced the expected ratio. In doing so, he made it one of the most valuable tiles in Scrabble, even though its individual score is only one point.

'Conversed' and 'conserved' share the same property.
7. The smallest possible score for a bingo is 56, and requires both blanks. Next puzzle is - 'Reacquires male singers'.

A word such as 'realists' with the blanks landing on the Double Letter squares, and the whole word falling between Double Word squares could give this rather pathetic score.

Nine letter words have to use two letters that are already placed on the board, so are tough to find.
