Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which item in the photo can become DRAG OWEN if some letters trade places?

Answer: Red wagon

Little red wagons used to be a favourite toy of children, to carry their stuffed animals and pets or even to help in doing chores. The modern version is larger, probably made of plastic and often not red.

Other anagrams of red wagon are "grow Dane" and "gore wand".
2. REBRAND these letters to describe the image.

Answer: Red barn

This particular red barn in Pennsylvania was being used to store hay. Other uses of barns are to house animals, especially at night or in bad weather, or to keep farm equipment secure.

Another anagram might be "RN beard", though it wouldn't be possible to use a photo of a bearded sailor for this quiz.
3. Told to WASH IT NEW, what will you find in the image?

Answer: White swan

Swans, while beautiful, can be quite vicious creatures. I once saw one attempting to tear a windshield wiper from a parked car, though I didn't see how successful it might have been. I turned and gave it a very wide berth!

"When waits" could have been another clue.
4. Given an instruction to GORE DRONE, what jumps out at you from the photo?

Answer: Green door

Doors allow us to enter and exit buildings without climbing through windows, and come in many shapes, sizes and colours. Storm doors keep us warm in winter, and screen doors keep the insects out in the summer.

"Redo RN ego" would also likely have needed an image of a sailor, so was not used.
5. What does EBB ROW RAN mean? Possibly something in the image can help.

Answer: Brown bear

Although the photo is of a teddy bear cuddled up in a quilt, he is also a brown (teddy) bear and brown bear fits the anagram. Cuddly teddy bears, of any colour, are much more beneficial to one's health than the real thing, for the most part.

"Ben Barrow" (no relation to Clyde) could have been another clue.
6. How might the image solve the problem: BOAT BLOCKS harbour?

Answer: Black boots

I can imagine the harbour master in these boots threatening the ship's captain with a good swift kick if he doesn't move his boat - metaphorically, of course.

The alternate anagram "Kobo cat lbs" conjures an image of a fat feline reading an e-book.
7. What did my BATTY CAB driver see in this image?

Answer: Tabby cat

Yes, there are two tabbies in the photo, but there's no S in the anagram, so only the singular is good here. This is my own girl, with her back to the camera, objecting to the presence of a neighbour cat in her yard.

"Baby tact" might also have worked as a clue.
8. Baseball conundrum during a drought: LET BAT OR WET the infield first to keep the dust down. What in the image might help?

Answer: Water bottle

Damping down the infield might help, but personally I'd say just get on with the game. The water bottle in the picture is meant to be refilled and carried with one when on a journey, or possibly out watching a ball game.

I'd have had more of a problem putting the alternate anagram "warble to Tet" into a sentence.
9. This image, and the words ROUSE HEAVY DTS, should bring to mind a particular time of year.

Answer: Shrove Tuesday

Of course, we hope that nobody has to be roused from delirium tremens (DTS), heavy or otherwise, whilst suffering withdrawal from pancakes with maple syrup in the period of Lent following Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day).

Another clue might have been "Eva's due, Shorty".
10. WAIL GRAY BRIDE, trade some letters around, and identify what is in the image.

Answer: Railway bridge

This railway bridge is always getting into my photographs, in all weather and sometimes even with a train crossing over it. It seemed fitting for it to get into one of my quizzes, too.

"Grail weird bay" could have been another clue.
