Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of this book?

Answer: green eggs and ham

"Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss has two main characters: Sam-I-Am and the unnamed narrator. Sam tries to get the narrator to eat green eggs and ham. After the narrator refuses them on the grounds that he doesn't like them, Sam continues to pester the narrator, asking him where he'd like it (boat, train, etc.) or with what animal he'd like it (goat, fox, etc.). Eventually, the narrator eats the green eggs and ham and finds out he does like them.

The limited use of words in the story was the result of a bet between Dr. Seuss and his publisher. The publisher believed Dr. Seuss could not write a book using so few words.
2. This is a type of ophthalmic problem. What is its name?

Answer: pink eye

Pink eye, also called madras eye or conjunctivitis, is the swelling of the membrane that surrounds the eyelids. It is not entirely dangerous and usually goes away without any medical help. In fact, for most cases of pink eye, there is no treatment. However, if a person wears contacts or can only see out of one eye, then pink eye can become a serious problem.

There are different kinds of pink eye depending on how a person gets pink eye. Some types include chemical, viral, and bacterial conjunctivitis, with viral conjunctivitis being the most common type.
3. What is the name of this children's game?

Answer: Red Rover

Red rover is a game played by children, usually in a large outside area. In this game, there are two teams standing in a line several feet away. The members of each team hold hands, forming a chain. One team asks for a member of the other team to come over.

This is done by saying "Red rover, red rover, send (someone's name) right over". The person being called over must run as fast as possible in order to break the chain. If that person succeeds, one of the two people whose chain was broken must join the person on his original team. If that person fails, that person becomes a member of the new team.

A team wins when there are no members from the opposing team left.
4. What party game is shown in the wordwise?

Answer: white elephant

White Elephant, also called (among other things) Naughty Santa, Yankee Swap, and Thieves' Christmas, is a gift exchange game. The gifts are usually inexpensive and humorous. To play, the first person chooses a gift from the center where all the gifts are. The second person can take the first person's gift or take from the pile. This continues until all presents have been taken. Alternate rules state that there is a limit on the number of times a person can take a gift or how many times a gift can be taken.

The term white elephant comes from the king of Siam. If one of his courtiers was obnoxious, then as a gift, he would give that person a white elephant.

There was a short-lived game show called "Take It All" that aired in December 2012 and was hosted by Howie Mandel that was based on this game.
