Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This actor has played guest roles on "Gunsmoke" in 1966 and "The Virginian" in 1965, a recurring role as a spy on impossible missions but his most famous part was as Captain Kirk's Number One in a series from 1966-69 and many movies after that. Who is this quality actor?

Answer: Leonard Nimoy

This remarkable actor has appeared in tv roles since at least 1951. He has appeared in many War, Western, and Action television shows in the '50s and '60s. His recurring role of course was in "Mission Impossible" in 1971 as The Great Paris. "Star Trek" though, as the half-human Spock, made him a household name and kept him busy for the rest of his career.
2. I liked this actor mostly in his western days as a sometimes unwanted step-child in 1965. In his subsequent roles he played a lawyer in 1973 and as a stuntman capturing wanted criminals in 1981. His futuristic roles though not technically far in the future, dealt with futuristic issues and science fiction. One was about a futuristic plane stranded in earth's orbit filmed in 1983. Who played the pilot?

Answer: Lee Majors

As the bionic "Six Million Dollar Man" (1974), and a pilot of a futuristic jet titled "Starflight: The Plane that Couldn't Land", Lee Majors has been involved in the future in at least some ways. He was of course Colt Seaver, in "The Fall Guy" as a stuntman/bounty hunter.

He also played opposite Arthur Hill in "Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law". My favourite though was as half-Barkley, Heath, in "The Big Valley".
3. Despite a litany of guest roles in the present era, and a recurring role on a futuristic spaceship in "Battlestar Galactica" in 2006, this actress is most famous for her roles in the distant past. In one she played a character in Rome's heyday. Who is this warrior princess?

Answer: Lucy Lawless

This stunningly beautiful actress has played many roles. Her athletic ability contributed to her success as warrior princess Xena in 1995, for six years. Also she played in the series 'Spartacus' as Lucretia in 2011. She has had guest roles in shows such as 'The L Word' in 2009 on tv and in movies like 'Boogyman' (2005) and 'Football Wives' (2007).
4. This actor had small roles in television's war and western genre but was most famous for impossible missions in the sixties and starring in a future based series when the moon was blown out of earth's orbit in 1999. Many of his roles were in series with his wife. Who was the husband of Barbara Bain?

Answer: Martin Landau

Of course Martin Landau played Koenig, the commander of Moon Base Alpha, when it was blown out of orbit in the series 'Space 1999' from 1975-77. He also played opposite Peter Graves in the series 'Mission Impossible' as Rollin Hand in 1966. His past roles included Rufio in the movie 'Cleopatra' (1963) and several roles in old television western and war movies in the 1950s and '60s. Landau and Bain were married for 36 years, 1957-93.
5. This muscular actor will forever be remembered for his historical tv portrayal of Hercules from 1995-99, but he is also a cult favourite of a futuristic series as Capt. Dylan Hunt. His roles have included movies 'Walking Tall: The Payback' (2007), 'Never Cry Werewolf' (2008) and tv guest shots like 'Two and a Half Men'. Who is this ladies man?

Answer: Kevin Sorbo

A very popular actor Kevin Sorbo does a lot of charity work and special appearances. "Hercules: The Legendary Journey's" shot him to stardom. His series 'Andromeda' (2005) is a cult science fiction favourite. Ironically he was a close second to Dean Cain for the role of Superman in the tv series 'Lois and Clark' in 1993.
6. This actor was frantic once in 1988 and as a cop guarding a witness in 1985 both in the present. He has also battled aliens in the old west and battled renegade androids in "Blade Runner" in the future. Who is this famous actor?

Answer: Harrison Ford

One of my most favourite actors, he was Rick Deckard in Blade Runner. He played cop John Book in 'Witness' and an aging cattleman in 'Cowboys and Aliens' (2011). In "Frantic" he was searching for his abducted wife in Paris. These are but a few of his great roles, without even mentioning Indiana Jones and Han Solo.
7. Another favourite, this knighted actor has been in so many films. He is always a classy, cool individual in the past (once a bit part as King Richard in 1991) and super-suave spy 007 in the present, seven times from 1962 to 1971 and in 1983. The only futuristic film I know of though is 'Zardoz' from 1974. In that movie which actor played an exterminator named Zed who battled the eternals?

Answer: Sean Connery

All these actors have been 007 at one time or another, only Sir Sean Connery though was in 'Zardoz', to me a strange and fantastic movie. Connery was voted the Greatest Scot Alive. His past roles were in excellent movies like 'The Name of the Rose' (1986), 'The Untouchables' (1987), 'Robin and Marion' (1976), and so many more.
8. This Montreal born actor has been in front of the camera for more than 50 years. He was captain and later admiral of a starship, a cop named Sgt. TJ Hooker in 1982 and in the past as secret agent Jeff Cable in "Barbary Coast".

Answer: William Shatner

William Shatner has played in numerous genres on tv and in the movies. "Barbary Coast" lasted one season in 1975. He starred with Doug McClure as a secret agent operating out of San Francisco in the 19th century. The show "TJ Hooker" lasted four years from 1982-86. And of course who will ever forget Capt. James T. Kirk of the starship Enterprise on "Star Trek" from tv 1966-68 and movies in the '70s and '80s. Shatner is also a best selling author of the "Tek War" novels.
9. This actor played martial arts expert Kwai Chang Caine in the past and that character's own grandson in the present. He played Frankenstein in the future in a death race. He played numerous roles including western outlaw Cole Younger in a film along with two of his real life brothers. Do you know his name?

Answer: David Carradine

David Carradine played Kwai Chang Caine in the past and the grandson of that character with the same name in the present in "Kung Fu" (1972-75) and "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues" (1993-97). He played racer Frankenstein in "Death Race 2000" along side an early Sylvester Stallone in 1975.

The movie "The Long Riders" (1980) was unique in that it had brothers portray brothers in the movie. It starred the Carradines, the Keachs, the Quaids and the Guest brothers. Carradine tragically passed away accidentally in 2009.
10. This actor's voice was heard on radio long before he was seen on tv. For 14 years this Canadian was a Nevada patriarch on television. In 1973 he starred as "Griff" as a private investigator. Later he was leader of a ragtag fugitive fleet in 1978 and again in 1980.

Answer: Lorne Greene

Lorne Greene was The Voice of Canada during the 2nd world war. His voice propelled him to Hollywood in the '50s to pursue an acting career. He made 429 episodes combined of "Bonanza and Ponderosa" from 1959-73. "Griff" on the other hand only lasted 14 episodes. "Battlestar Galactica" played for 22 episodes and "Galactica 1980" lasted a mere 10 shows.
