Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which band includes these five members: Adler, Hudson, Isbell, McKagan, Rose?

Answer: Guns N' Roses

Stephen Adler (drums); Saul Hudson, aka 'Slash' (guitar); Jeff Isbell, aka 'Izzy Stradlin' (guitar); Michael 'Duff' McKagan (bass); and William Bruce 'Axl' Rose (lead vocals/piano) make up this high-powered quintet. G N' R has released the blockbuster albums, "Appetite for Destruction" (1987), and "Use Your Illusion I and II" (1991). Axl Rose was born William Bruce Rose.

His stepfather's surname was Bailey. Axl went by 'Bailey' as a child, but changed his name back to Rose for his professional stage name.
2. Which band consists of these four members: Balzary, Frusciante, Kiedis, Smith?

Answer: Red Hot Chili Peppers

Michael Balzary, aka 'Flea' (bass); John Frusciante (guitar); Anthony Kiedis (vocals); Chad Smith (drums). The Red Hot Chili Peppers formed in California in 1983, and released their self-titled debut album in 1984. Founding member, Hillel Slovak (guitar), died of a drug overdose in 1988, shortly before the Peppers' rise to worldwide fame, and Frusciante took over on guitar.
3. Which band includes these four members: Bass, Deal, Ferrana, Wharton?

Answer: Motley Crue

Thomas Bass, aka 'Tommy Lee' (drums); Robert Deal, aka 'Mick Mars' (guitar); Frank Ferrana, aka 'Nikki Sixx' (bass); Vince Neil Wharton, aka 'Vince Neil' (vocals). Motley Crue formed in Los Angeles in 1980. Motley Crue released the albums, "Shout at the Devil" (1983), "Theatre of Pain" (1985), and "Dr. Feelgood" (1989).
4. Which band includes these four members: Crisscoula, Eisen, Frehley, Witz?

Answer: Kiss

Peter Crisscoula, aka 'Peter Criss' (Drums); Stanley Eisen, aka 'Paul Stanley' (vocals/guitar); Paul 'Ace' Frehley (guitar); and Chaim Witz, aka 'Gene Simmons' (vocals/bass). Stanley and Simmons were in a band called Wicked Lester before forming Kiss in 1972. Criss, Stanley and Frehley were all born in New York City; Simmons was born in Haifa, Israel.
5. Which band includes these five members: Bruce, Buxton, Dunaway, Furnier, Smith?

Answer: Alice Cooper

Michael Bruce (guitar); Glen Buxton (guitar); Dennis Dunaway (bass); Vincent Damon Furnier, aka 'Alice Cooper' (vocals); Neal Smith (drums). These five members originally called their band Alice Cooper, but later Furnier came to be known solely as Alice Cooper, and legally changed his name.
6. Which band includes the following four members: Clayton, Evans, Hewson, Mullen?

Answer: U2

Adam Clayton (bass); David Evans, aka 'The Edge' (guitar); Paul David Hewson, aka 'Bono Vox' (vocals/guitar); and Larry Mullen, Jr. (drums). U2 formed in 1976 in Dublin, Ireland, and has released the classic albums, "War" (1983) and "The Joshua Tree" (1987). Bono took his name from a local hearing aid store called "Bono Vox", which loosely translated from Latin means "good voice".

As legend has it, "The Edge" was given his monicker due to the shape of his face and chin, not because of his "edgy" guitar style.
7. Which band includes these four members: Cook, Jones, Lydon, Ritchie?

Answer: Sex Pistols

Paul Cook (drums); Steve Jones (guitar); John Lydon, aka 'Johnny Rotten' (vocals); John Ritchie, aka 'Sid Vicious' (bass). The Sex Pistols were pieced together like some of the boybands of the 1990's, for their looks, attitude, and marketability - not necessarily for their musical talent. The Pistols were much cooler than N'Sync or the Backstreet Boys, though.
8. What band includes these three members: Peart, Weinrib, Zivojinovich?

Answer: Rush

Neil Peart (drums); Gary Lee Weinrib, aka 'Geddy Lee' (vocals/bass/keyboards); Alex Zivojinovich, aka 'Alex Lifeson'. Rush formed in Toronto, Canada, in 1969, and released their self-titled debut album in 1974.
9. Which band consists of these three members: Asher, Baker, Clapton?

Answer: Cream

John Symon Asher, aka 'Jack Bruce' (vocals/bass); Peter Baker, aka 'Ginger Baker' (drums); Eric Patrick Clapton (guitar/vocals). Cream formed in July of 1966, and became the band that would influence all future power trios.
10. Which band includes the following members: Hawkes, Orzechowski, Otcasek, Robinson, Shapiro?

Answer: The Cars

Greg Hawkes (keyboards); Benjamin Orzechowski, aka 'Ben Orr' (vocals/bass); Richard Otcasek, aka 'Rik Ocasek' (vocals/guitar); David Robinson (drums); and Elliot Shapiro, aka 'Elliot Easton' (guitar). The Cars formed in 1977, in Boston, Massachusetts, and consisted of members who were originally from Baltimore, MD (Ocasek), Cleveland, OH (Orr), Brooklyn, NY (Shapiro), and Boston, MA (Hawkes and Robinson). Why Ocasek dropped only the letter "t" from his birthname, only he could tell you that.
