Slash is a noted British/American musician and songwriter, born in Hampstead, London in 1965. After leaving Guns n Roses, Slash co-founded the super-group Velvet Revolver, along with Duff McCagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner (of Wasted Youth), lead vocals was Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots.
He got the nickname 'Slash' from Seymour Cassel, a family friend, who said 'he was always in a hurry, zipping around from one thing to another'

Dylan was born in Duluth in Minnesota, in 1941, of East European Jewish extraction. In September 1959, Dylan enrolled at the University of Minnesota, where his early preference for rock and roll, changed to an interest in American folk music. He dropped out of college and moved to New York in 1961, where he hoped to visit his idol Woody Guthrie who was in hospital suffering from Huntington's Disease.
Dylan also played at various venues around Greenwich Village, where he was noticed by Robert Shelton, who wrote a good review in the New York Times, and was noticed by the producer John Hammond who signed him up to Columbia Records.
Dylan has been a major influence in music since the early 1960s and many artists have named him as the one musician who has influenced their style of music most.

Sting was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1951. He qualified as a teacher, but during school breaks, he played in local bands (Phoenix Jazzmen, the Newcastle Big Band and Last Exit). He got his nickname 'Sting' after he performed a set with the Phoenix Jazzmen, wearing a black and yellow striped sweater, which the band leader, Gordon Solomon, said 'made him look like a bee!'
Of course he later went on to form the band, The Police, a very successful 1980s band.
