Orlando Bloom appeared as Legolas in the 'Lord of the Rings' film trilogy, consisting of 'The Fellowship of the Ring' (2001), 'The Two Towers' (2002) and 'The Return of the King' (2003). He followed this success up by playing Will Turner in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' series, appearing with Johnny Depp who portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow.

The other three British actors named also appeared in 'Lord of the Rings', with Sean Bean playing Boromir, Ian McKellen portraying Gandalf and Dominic Monaghan appearing as Merry.

Hopkins became Sir Anthony in 1993 when he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

She went on to play Queen Elizabeth II in 2006, in 'The Queen' for which she won the Best Actress Oscar. Helen Mirren was created a Dame of the British Empire in 2003.

David Niven was born in London in 1910 and was still appearing in films shortly before his death in 1983. Niven also appeared as James Bond in the 1967 film of 'Casino Royale'.
