On June 17, 1994, tens of millions of people watched the dramatic scene unfold on television with fascination, as O.J. Simpson was sitting in the back seat of the fleeing vehicle with a gun to his head. The Bronco traveled at 35 miles per hour (56 km/h), with several police cars following behind and news helicopters tenaciously following the action.

O.J. Simpson eventually surrendered to the police at his estate, after adding to the drama of the scene by sitting in the Bronco for almost an hour, then entering his house to prepare himself for his arrest. After a trial lasting nearly a year, Simpson was acquitted of the murder charges.

The referee merely gave Tyson a warning and penalty, and Tyson proceeded to bite Holyfield's other ear. Tyson said the bite was a retaliatory action for what he claimed was Holyfield's head-butting. Ryder exited the Beverly Hills store having stolen thousands of dollars worth of designer clothes and other accessories, allegedly cutting off security tags in order to filch the merchandise. She was arrested with a variety of prescription drugs she amassed from several different doctors. Eventually, Winona Ryder was convicted of grand theft and vandalism. Probation, community service, and a fine was the sentence the wayward actress received for the episode.
