Stewart, beside being a remarkable actor with a long string of successful films, was a Brigadier General in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Some of his other great films included "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Rear Window". He passed away in 1997.

Beginning as a magician when still a teenager, Carson hosted several quiz shows before landing the "Tonight Show" slot. He created such memorable characters as Aunt Blabby, Carnac the Magnificent, and Art Fern. Most late night talk shows follow the formula set by him.

Ricardo Montalban had a long, successful career, but is possibly best remembered for his TV role as Mr. Roarke on "Fantasy Island". He made many commercials for Chrysler, in which he uttered the memorable words, "and the feel of soft Corinthian leather." Mr. Montalban passed away in 2009.

Answer: Frank Sinatra

Rickles often gave Sinatra a large amount of credit for getting his career into high gear by recommending to friends that they catch his act in nightclubs. The singer was also an actor of note, having won an Academy Award for his performance in "From Here to Eternity".

Eastwood, whose career began in earnest with his role in the TV series "Rawhide", followed by his appearances in Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns, went on to make many great films, including "Every Which Way but Loose" and the "Dirty Harry" series. Active in politics, he has served as mayor of the town of Carmel by the Sea.

Martin was a mostly unsuccessful night club singer when he met Jerry Lewis in
Atlantic City in the late 40s. The rest, as they say, is history. After they split, Dean's career included movies and some well received recordings, including "That's Amore" and "Memories are made of This". He scored with his own TV variety show and "The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast" was a hit with the public. Dean passed away in 1995.

Lewis was the son of show business parents and began appearing on stage from age five. After a successful night club and movie career with Dean Martin, during which they made 16 very funny films together, Lewis went his own way. Very popular in Europe, his solo films included "The Geisha Boy" and "The Nutty Professor".

Berle, who died in 2002, was a major sensation in early television with his "Texaco Star Theater", a variety show. He was Uncle Miltie to millions of fans, but it was a star that burnt out quickly, and by the 60s he was pretty much a comedy relic. He was also a song writer and later in his career he guest starred on many a situation comedy.

Charlton Heston (1923-2008) starred in a long list of movies, among them a startling amount of historical and biblical epics, such as "Ben Hur", "El Cid" and "The Ten Commandments". His career lasted nearly 60 years. He is also remembered for his conservative political views and his support of the National Rifle Association.

Answer: Charles Bronson

Charles Bronson was born into a Pennsylvania coal miner's family. He went to work in the mines at age 10, when his father died. He did a lot of TV work in the 1950s as a guest star, especially on western shows. In 1960, he made "The Magnificent Seven".

He made such movies as "The Dirty Dozen", then appeared in "Death Wish" and all its sequels. If not a major star, he was certainly a familiar one. Illness forced his retirement in the 90s, and he died in 2003.
