Dorothy Stratten was born Dorothy Ruth Hoogstraten on February 28, 1960, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She first appeared in the August 1979 issue. In June 1979 she married Paul Snider, who later killed her and then committed suicide on August 14, 1980. Two movies, "Death of a Centerfold: The Dorothy Stratten Story" (1981), and "Star 80" (1983) have been produced about her life.

Terri Welles first appeared in the May 1980 issue. She was born Terri Knepper on November 21, 1956, in Santa Monica, California. She has been seen in Playboy videos and a few minor movie roles. Before her appearance in the magazine she worked as a stewardess for United Airlines. From 1981-86 she was married to NHL ice hockey player, Charlie Simmer.

Shannon Lee Tweed was born March 10, 1957, in St John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. "Thrill of a Lifetime" (a wish-fulfillment TV series in Canada) arranged for her to pose for the magazine, where she was chosen for November 1981 Playmate. She has a long list of television and movie credits. Movie appearances include "Indecent Behavior" series, and her television credits includes "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" (All Episodes, 2006-2012).

The series includes Gene Simmons' proposal and subsequent marriage to Tweed, along with their two teenage children.

Marianne Gravatte was born December 13, 1959, in Hollywood, California. She first appeared in the October 1982 issue and also on the album cover (their second album) of the band Ratt, "Invasion of Your Privacy" in 1985. Barbara L. Edwards was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on June 26, 1960. She first appeared in the September 1983 issue. She has a few movie credits, with the latest being "Another Chance" (1989) and some television appearances, with three being in "The New Mike Hammer" (1984-85) to her name.
