She appeared in a dozen films with Chaplin and 17 with "Fatty" Arbuckle. Her "short", "Bangville Police", was the first appearance of the Keystone Cops, and she appears in the film as the girl tied to the railroad tracks, the first use of this image in Hollywood.

After initially doing most of her own stunts in her films, her employers eventually began using stunt doubles for the dangerous work after White suffered several injuries. In 1922 a stunt double was killed filming "Plunder", and a rumor spread that White herself was killed. She then moved to France, making her last film and stage appearances in Europe and retiring with a fortune of $2 million, which she expanded up until her death. She would eventually own a nightclub in Paris, a casino in Barritz, and a stable of race horses. She is buried in Cimetière de Passy in Passy, Paris.
