Her birth name was Jo Raquel Tejada. She was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1940. Her family moved to San Diego, California when she was two years of age. Raquel graduated from high school and attended college in the San Diego area. Her acting career began with small roles, but her breakout came with a leading role in the film "Fantastic Voyage" in 1966.
The very next year she starred in "One Million Years B.C.". The promotional still of her in a deerskin bikini became an all-time best selling poster. Ms. Welch has had roles in nearly 40 films.

Sofia Costanza Scicclone was her name at birth. She was born in Rome, Italy in 1934. As a teenager she went by the name Sofia Lazzaaro as a model in the fashion industry. Through much of the 1950s she had roles in Italian films. She hit the American screen in 1958 as Sofia Loren.
In 1960 she won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in the film "Two Women". In all she had roles in over a 100 films.

In the late 1920s the family moved to Hollywood, California, and her father started a dance studio. At 16, under the name Rita Cansino she had a dance scene in a Spencer Tracy movie. 20th Century Fox Studios signed her to a deal in the 1930s, but insisted on a name change.
They settled on Rita Hayworth (Hayworth being her mother's maiden name). Her breakout role came as the title character in the film "Gilda".
She had roles in nearly 70 films. Ms. Hayworth died from complications of Alzheimer's disease in 1980 at the age of 68.

Ann Margaret Olsson was her birth name. She was born in 1941 in Stockholm, Sweden. She and her family moved to the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois in the mid 1940s. Her biggest break came in her next film, "Bullitt", with Steve McQueen. However, she became a superstar with her role in the movie "The Deep" in 1977. Ms. Bisset has had roles in nearly 70 films.

Grace Patricia Kelly was her name at birth, and throughout her short film career. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1929. She began her acting in plays,on and off Broadway. Small roles eventually led to her breakout, being cast in the lead female role in "High Noon" with Gary Cooper.
Her illustrious career lasted for only 11 films. During that short time she garnered two nominations, and won the Oscar for Best Actress in the film "The Country Girl". Her career came to an abrupt end with her marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956. Grace apparently suffered a stroke while driving in Monaco in 1982, and lost control of her vehicle.
She died of her injuries later that evening at the age of 52.
10. Against All Odds

Rachel Claire Ward was her birth name. She was born in 1957 in Cornwell, England. However, she grew up in Australia. In her late teens and early twenties she was a high fashion model who graced the covers of magazines like "Vogue" and "Cosmopolitan". In the acting world her breakthrough came with her Emmy nominated role in the miniseries "The Thorn Birds" in 1983.
She gained further stardom with her role opposite Jeff Bridges in the movie "Against All Odds". After marrying fellow thespian and Australian, Bryan Brown, her career has almost entirely been halted. Ms. Ward has had roles in over 20 films.
