Answer: The Deer Hunter

"The Deer Hunter" is an epic Vietnam war drama that won five Oscars at the 51st Academy Awards ceremony, including Walken's Best Actor in a Supporting Role award. Walken's character is a young Pennsylvania steelworker who leaves the war emotionally scarred and ends up shooting himself in the head while playing Russian roulette...very intense! Walken had roles in both "Annie Hall" and "The Anderson Tapes", but didn't receive an Oscar nod for either role.
3. In what film franchise did Christopher Walken play an angel?

Answer: The Prophecy

Walken played the Archangel Gabriel in the first three installments of "The Prophecy" series. In the first installment, Walken's character is searching for an evil soul on Earth to help sway the odds in the war in Heaven. "The Prophecy II" sees Gabriel brought back and in search of an unborn child who is the offspring of a human and angel mating.

In "The Prophecy 3: The Ascent", Walken is still Gabriel, but as a human, not an angel.
4. At age 16, Walken spent a summer in a very unusual profession. It still involved performing in front of an audience, but with an animal as his co-star. What was the dangerous deed he performed for a rapt crowd?

Answer: Circus Lion Tamer

Walken spent the summer travelling with a one-ring circus as a lion tamer. Working with a lion named Sheba, he would crack his whip and demand "Up, Sheba, up!" and the lion would give a big roar for the fans.
5. What movie from the 1990s has Christopher Walken portraying an eccentric exterminator? An exterminator of actual pests, not people.

Answer: MouseHunt

In one of his family oriented films, Walken plays Caesar, the exterminator who's trying to rid a house of a little mouse. The mouse outsmarts everyone, including the exterminator, in one antic after another. This is definitely one of his quirkier characters, who, in one scene, picks up some mouse poop and tastes it. (Yuk!)
6. In what "Hallmark Hall of Fame" television movie did Christopher Walken advertise for a mail order bride to help him raise his two children?

Answer: Sarah, Plain and Tall

Christopher Walken stars along with Glenn Close in this made for television movie based on the book by Patricia MacLachlan. The story takes place in 1910 in Kansas, Walken's character, Jacob Witting, is a farmer raising two children alone since his wife died.

He advertises for a new bride and receives a response from Sarah (Glenn Close) who describes herself simply as "plain and tall" and comes for a month long trial period. Two more installments were made, "Skylark" and "Winter's End". These were some of my mom's favorite movies as she found them very heartwarming.
7. In what movie, co-starring Sean Penn, did Christopher Walken play an organized crime leader partially based on real life crime family leader Bruce Johnston, Sr.?

Answer: At Close Range

Walken plays, Brad Whitewood, Sr., the estranged father of Brad, Jr. and Tommy. Walken's character is pretty wicked in this role. After drawing the boys into a life of crime, then realizing they don't fit as well as he feels they should, he turns on them. Before it's over, he rapes Brad's girlfriend, kills Tommy personally and orders the hit on Brad.
8. In another eccentric role for Christopher Walken, he plays a scientist who believes a nuclear war has started and locks himself and his pregnant wife in a fallout shelter for 35 years. Which romantic comedy of 1999 does Walken add his unique brand of humor?

Answer: Blast from the Past

Although silly in parts, overall, it's a fun movie. After 35 years in the fallout shelter, supplies run short and Walken is forced to send his now grown son out for more supplies. After living his whole life with his parents in the fallout shelter, the son has a big adjustment to the world at large and a big dilemma on how to tell his parents the nuclear war never happened.
9. In what comedic, variety show has Christopher Walken repeatedly saying, "I gotta have more cowbell"?

Answer: Saturday Night Live

"Saturday Night Live" aka "SNL" began in 1975 as a late night comedy show that features short skits with spoofs of everything from famous movie scenes to music videos to television commercials. Walken's character made the "More Cow Bell" sketch one of the most memorable ones ever.

In the skit, Walken plays the producer during the recording session of Blue Oyster Cult's classic hit "(Don't Fear) the Reaper". He's hosted "SNL" numerous times and his sketches have been so popular, they released a "Best of...SNL" video based on his performances.

This honor is usually reserved for cast members, not hosts, but he's one of a small handful of hosts who've earned the best of moniker.
10. Christopher Walken began taking dance lessons when he was just three years old. By age 10, he landed a part in a television skit with a famous actor/comedian. Who was the man who gave Walken his early inspiration to become an actor?

Answer: Jerry Lewis

Although he'd already been an extra in many other shows, it wasn't until he landed a part as an extra in a television skit on "The Colgate Comedy Hour" (1950-1955) with Jerry Lewis that he decided a life in show business was what he wanted. Lewis' abilities on the classic comedy show inspired him to pursue acting as a career and a long career it has been. Around age 18, Walken was doing parts in the theatre and then finally broke into film in the early 70s.
