Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where was Bradley Walsh born?

Answer: Watford

Bradley was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. Bradley's parents were Margaret, who was born in Bellshill, just outside Glasgow, Scotland, and his father was an Englishman named Daniel. He has one sister called Kerri. Both Bradley and Kerri were raised up in Leavesden, a residential and commercial area in the northern part of Watford.

Brad was questioned if he was close to his father during a conversation with Desert Island Discs presenter Lauren Laverne. He claimed that his father drank a lot of beer in the pub with his mates. Bradley continued by saying that after working hard all week, they would go to a pub at four on Friday and return home very late. They carried out the process once more on Saturday and Sunday, he continued, saying they would be either in a pub or a club having a few drinks rather than spending time with the family.

So were they close? Bradley then said to Lauren, "I'm not sure looking back on it. We had a common ground, which of course was football, but as a man's man, I think at the time, those sorts of guys had time for the men. Generally, they would rather be interested in talking about other stuff than spending a lot of time with the children."

There's no denying, however, that Bradley and his son Barney have a tight relationship - more like friends than father and son. They have both collaborated on television projects and enjoy a lot of family time together.
2. In what year was Bradley Walsh born?

Answer: 1960

Bradley John Walsh was born on 4 June 1960. Bradley attended Garston's Francis Combe School, and was evidently tipped from an early age for a career in front of the camera. While at school, his classmates voted him the most likely to host a TV show. His first job on leaving school was an apprenticeship at Rolls-Royce's jet engine department in Watford.

He played football for both the Rolls-Royce corporate club and a county league team, Leavesden Hospital, which is situated close to Watford, Hertfordshire. That's where, at the age of 18, a team noticed him and signed him to a two-year contract after he scored the winning goal that went in favour of his team. But it was not intended to be. His career was not very spectacular; he only played for the reserves. He was then sent on loan to Barnet, where he remained until the age of 22, when an unfortunate ankle injury forced him to retire.
3. Bradley Walsh appeared in "Coronation Street" as the nephew of Mike Baldwin.

Answer: True

Walsh debuted on "Coronation Street" on May 31, 2004, as Danny Baldwin, the nephew of factory boss Mike Baldwin. Originally, Walsh requested that the character's name be changed to Danny in honour of his late father. After further discussion, the producers changed the name at Bradley's request. The character was supposed to be named Vic. In 2006, Walsh asked the producers to be written out of the program, which they agreed to do.
4. What is the name of Bradley Walsh's debut studio album?

Answer: Chasing Dreams

"Chasing Dreams" is the debut studio album by Bradley Walsh. The album was released on 25 November 2016 through Decca Records. It peaked at number 10 on the UK Albums Chart, and has been certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for sales of 100,000 copies in the UK. "Chasing Dreams" was the biggest-selling debut album by a British artist in 2016, outselling albums by the likes of Zayn Malik, Shawn Mendes, and Jack Garratt.
5. What was the reason Bradley Walsh got in-to show business in the first place?

Answer: His mates

Bradley got in to show business courtesy of his mates while on holiday in Majorca. His mates persuaded Bradley to enter a local talent competition. Bradley was well-known among his friends for his humorous impressions of Worzel Gummidge and Norman Wisdom, with a few gags thrown in. Bradley went on to win the talent competition.

A man approached Bradley after the competition and inquired about his thoughts on entering the entertainment sector. Bradley replied no, not really, and the man advised him to get an audition when he got back to the UK.
6. In 1979 Bradley Walsh became a professional football player for what team?

Answer: Brentford

Wormley Rovers was where Bradley began playing football as a young player. Bradley started playing football professionally with Brentford in 1979, when he was eighteen years old. Despite not getting picked for the first team, Bradley was a consistent member of the reserves. Bradley played on loan for Barnet, appearing in five Alliance Premier League games during the 1979-80 campaign. In addition, he also played for Chalfont St. Peter, Boreham Wood, and Tring Town. His football career ended in 1982, at the age of 22, due to ankle fractures.

Bradley has participated in the Soccer Aid charity football game, which pits teams of professional and well-known football players against The Rest of the World. He participated in the tournament in 2006, and helped England win. He went on to become the England coach in 2012 and 2016.
7. Bradley Walsh's son is mentioned in a previous question, but he also has a daughter who was born in 1982. What is her name?

Answer: Hayley

Walsh was reportedly involved with Debbie Parker, Hayley's mother in the 1980s, but information regarding whether they were married or not is unavailable. Hayley is not involved in show business; she attended the London School of Reflexology, and has worked as a MAR Reflexologist.

Bradley married Donna Derby in 1997 and together they have a son named Barney, who was born in 1998. A reputable choreographer and former dancer, Bradley's wife, has choreographed routines for Miss World and danced in Robert Palmer's 1980s smash song "Simply Irresistible".

As of 2024, Bradley and Donna live in a £2.5 million barn conversion in Epping, Essex. It features an outdoor pool, a sauna, and a fitness centre. Bradley grew up in a Watford council house, so his opulent lifestyle is very different from that.

He once revealed to The Telegraph newspaper, "I grew up in a council house in Watford. As a single mother, my mother had a difficult time making ends meet. She worked three separate jobs at one point. Though we didn't have a lot of money, it was a happy upbringing."
8. Bradley Walsh played the part of Graham O'Brien in what British popular TV series?

Answer: Doctor Who

In seasons 11 and 12, Bradley played the part of Graham O'Brien in the popular TV series, "Doctor Who." Graham O'Brien was the 13th loyal and caring companion to the Doctor. Bradley was praised by the critics and followers for his role in the series.

The BBC has been airing the British science fiction television series "Doctor Who" since 1963. The show tells the story of an extraterrestrial named The Doctor. The Doctor belongs to the Time Lords, a humanoid species. The Doctor uses a time-traveling spacecraft known as the TARDIS, which has the exterior appearance of a blue British police box, to travel both through space and time. The doctor travels, fighting enemies in an effort to rescue lives and free oppressed people. Throughout his travels, the doctor is usually joined by his companions.
9. A British comedy-drama television series called "The Darling Buds of May" aired from 1991 to 1993. Bradley starred in the reboot television series that aired in 2021. Bradley Walsh character was named "Pop." What was the series called?

Answer: The Larkins

The English comedy-drama television series, "The Larkin's", is set in a rural area in the 1950s. Bradley portrays the six children's father, "Pop". The plot is drawn from HE Bates's book "The Darling Buds of May." Bradley was excited about the opportunity to play Pop Larkin because he thought the character was interesting. Walsh claims that he has admitted to growing long sideburns in order to maintain his Pop Larkin persona.

"The Larkins" first aired on 10 October 2021 and ran until 16 October 2022. A Christmas Special was shown on 25 December 2021.
10. Bradley Walsh was once a Bluecoat at Pontins.

Answer: True

When Bradley got home after his holiday in Majorca, he thought about a career in show business, especially after the man spoke to Bradley after he won the talent contest. Bradley wrote to Pontins for an application form so he could apply for an audition. The great news was that Bradley got the chance to attend an audition and was given the opportunity to become a Bluecoat. Out of the 100s of people who apply each year, only a few people get the chance to become a Bluecoat.

Walsh spent three months working as a Bluecoat at Pontins in Morecambe during the summer of 1982 as a newcomer comedian. Fred Pontin created Pontins, a British firm that runs holiday resorts in the United Kingdom. The camps were less costly and smaller than the holiday camps run by Butlin. Unlike Butlin's Redcoats, Pontin's provided entertainment for its visitors in the form of Bluecoats.

Pontin's and Butlins are renowned for their Bluecoat and Redcoat entertainers. It's a huge stepping stone for newcomers in the entertainment business. Hundreds, if not 1000s, of men and women have passed through their doors.
