Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Invisible Jet

Answer: Wonder Woman

Where would Wonder Woman be without her Invisible Jet which, until the 1950s, was called her Invisible Plane? Since the early days, the plane has undergone many modifications, including the ability to fly at supersonic speeds and transform itself into a vehicle for transportation under water or into outer space.

The plane ('de plane') can also receive telepathic communications from Wonder Woman and her alter ego, Diana Prince. Now that Wonder Woman possesses the power of flight, her trusty jet still remains valuable for its on-board equipment, to carry Wonder Woman's cargo (in lieu of a purse) and as a protective shelter for stealth missions.
2. Rocinante

Answer: Don Quixote

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra gave us a host of memorable characters in his novel whose full title is "The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha". It was published in two volumes in 1605 and 1615. The story is about an 'hidalgo' named Alonso Quixano who reads so many novels about chivalry that he decides to revive it and bring justice to the world. Don Quixote rides his trusty steed, Rocinante, into battle; like Don Quixote, Rocinante is clumsy, past his prime and unable to truly fight the forces of evil.

In Spanish, 'rocin' is a work horse, and 'ante' means before.
3. Mystery Machine

Answer: Fred Jones

Get some 'Scooby snacks' and come along for a ride in the psychedelic Mystery Machine driven by the owner, Fred Jones. The van also carries Shaggy, Daphne, Velma and, of course, (Great Dane) Scooby Doo, as they drive around finding ghosts and solving mysteries.

The Mystery Machine has the ability to adapt and provide whatever is needed in any given situation or episode. It stores equipment, e.g., ladders and ropes, with computer equipment lining the walls. In the animated series, teenager Fred Jones was voiced by Frank Welker; in the film, Fred was played by Freddie Prinze, Jr.
4. Swift Wind

Answer: She-Ra

Swift Wind is the Alicorn of "She-Ra: Princess of Power", the animated series which debuted in 1985. An Alicorn is, basically, a unicorn with wings. In this cartoon, not only does She-Ra have an alter ego, i.e., Princess Adora, but even her horse, Spirit, turns into Swift Wind. Together they lead the 'Great Rebellion' against the "mighty Horde on Etheria". Princess Adora is the twin sister of Prince Adam who (naturally) has an alter ego, i.e., He-Man. Both Adora and Adam are from the franchise "Masters of the Universe", 'for the honor of Grayskull'.
5. The Wanderer

Answer: James West

A train with a name? The Wanderer is the name of the special, tricked-out, private train ridden by Secret Service Agents James West and Artemus Gordon on "The Wild Wild West". The TV series ran from 1965 to 1969. West and Gordon reported directly to President Ulysses S. Grant on missions which involved thwarting evil doers in the Old West. To accomplish their missions they used futuristic gadgets which would have made James Bond proud.
6. Black Beauty

Answer: Green Hornet

This is NOT Anna Sewell's "Black Beauty" but, rather, a 1966 Imperial Crown customized sedan driven by Kato for the action adventure hero the Green Hornet. "The Green Hornet" TV series originally aired from 1966 to 1967. The protagonist was Britt Reid, a playboy and media mogul (sort of a poor man's Batman) who, as Green Hornet, fights crime with his martial arts partner, Kato. Britt became a crimefighter to avenge his father who died in prison for a crime he did not commit. Van Williams played the lead; his assistant was played by Bruce Lee (yes, THAT Bruce Lee!).
7. The General Lee

Answer: Bo Duke

Perhaps one of the most well-known and easily recognizable TV vehicles is the souped up 1969 Dodge Charger, the 'General Lee', from "The Dukes of Hazzard" (1979-1985). Bo and Luke Duke drove the General Lee through fictional Hazzard County, Georgia, while playing Robin Hood and fighting against the corrupt politicians of the county, e.g., Boss Hogg. Bo and Luke were played by John Schneider and Tom Wopat, respectively.
8. Millennium Falcon

Answer: Han Solo

The Millennium Falcon was a Corellian YT-1300 light freighter originally owned by Lando Calrissian. Calrissian lost the spaceship to Han Solo in a game of sabacc. Used by Han Solo and Chewbacca during the Galactic Civil War, the Falcon was equipped with hyperdrive, making it the "fastest ship in the galaxy". Both the starship and its pilot became involved in some of the Rebel Alliance's most important victories over the Empire.
9. Compact Pussycat

Answer: Penelope Pitstop

The Compact Pussycat was a fancy pink convertible featured on the animated Hanna-Barbera shows "Wacky Races" (1968) and its spin-off "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop" (1969). The car, outfitted with all manner of beauty products, belonged to southern belle Penelope Pitstop as she thwarted her rivals, the Ant Hill Mob (in the original series) or her enemies like the villainous Hooded Claw, voiced by Paul Lynde. "The Perils of Pauline" had nothing on the dangers facing the perky Ms. Pitstop.
10. Pacific Princess

Answer: Merrill Stubing

"Set a course for adventure" as the "Love Boat will soon be making another run". With Captain Merrill Stubing steering the Pacific Princess to romantic destinations, can love be far behind? "The Love Boat" aired for an amazing ten years, i.e., from 1977-1987.

It featured a bunch of B-List stars looking for love (and a possible come-back) on the cruise ship. The crew, consisting of Captain Stubing, Dr. Adam Bricker, Julie, Isaac and Gopher, offered help and humor on the hopeful and always satisfying voyages.
