Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Launched Coaster with loop, two corkscrews and a heartline roll.

Answer: Blue Fire

The only inverting coaster at Europa Park so far was built, like the majority of the park's attractions, by Mack Rides. Unusually for an inverting coaster, it features only a lap restraint, giving a particular feeling to the coaster's closing heartline roll during which riders are suspended only from their thighs.

It opened in 2009 along with the Iceland themed area and is sponsored by GAZPROM - the name alluding to the blue flame of burning natural gas.
2. Combined coaster / boat ride with two lift hills

Answer: Poseidon

Located in the Greek section of the park, Poseidon is a hybrid of a coaster and a log flume ride. The ride has 8-seated boats (4 rows of 2) and consists of two separate coaster sections each ending in a splashdown similar to those seen in log flume rides and connected by a slow boat ride section.

The first coaster experience is the longer and includes several curving drops, the second is a straight-down drop followed by an airtime hill before the splashdown.
3. Themed ride with coaster elements, inverted

Answer: Arthur

Europa Park's only attraction themed after a third party intellectual property uses scenes from Luc Besson's "Arthur and the Minimoys" movies in a hybrid dark ride / rollercoaster suitable for all ages 4 and up. The three powered coaster sections are all built to evoke the feeling of flying, with two of them outside the hall where the rest of the ride is located, the third under the hall's ceiling, overlooking a restaurant and playground themed as a Minimoy village.
4. Wild Mouse coaster with an elevator lift

Answer: Matterhorn Blitz

Matterhorn Blitz is a classic Wild Mouse coaster design located in the Swiss themed area of the park. It features an unusual lift concept that raises the 4-seater cars in an elevator cabin traveling nearly vertically (the actual track is bent, allowing the two cabins to pass each other similar to the cars of a funicular).

The coaster track itself begins with a straight drop and ascent before the start of the typical, unbanked "mouse" curves.
5. Freewheeling bobsled coaster

Answer: Schweizer Bobbahn

The Schweizer Bobbahn (Swiss Bob Run), opened in 1985 was the first bobsled roller coaster in Europe and the second steel bobsled roller coaster worldwide. Once the trains clear the lift hill, they do not run on normal, guiding, track but rather freely in a half-pipe style one, making each ride slightly different. Like most Mack-built bobsled coasters, it features first a straight drop and ascent before entering a series of helical turns built to resemble an actual bobsled run.
6. Out-and-back hypercoaster with many airtime hills

Answer: Silver Star

Opened in 2002, Silver Star is a Bolliger & Mabillard hypercoaster themed around Mercedes motor sports, in particular their Formula 1 team. It's built mostly outside the actual park's boundaries, extending across the parking lot. The layout is a simple out and back format and the coaster derives most of its thrill from the 130 kph (80 mph) top speed and the extensive floater airtime - in the rear seats, you can enjoy a total of almost 20 seconds of near weightlessness.
7. Indoor coaster in a geodesic dome

Answer: Eurosat

Built in 1989, Eurosat is an experience very similar to the one offered by Space Mountain in the Disneyland and Walt Disney World resorts. It is one of the few rollercoasters where the middle seats offer the wildest experience, owing to the fact that the tightest turns are located at the bottom of the drops.

In spite of a rather low actual speed, this coaster's twists and turns make it appear much faster and wilder than it is.
8. 40 meters (131 feet) high wooden coaster

Answer: Wodan Timburcoaster

One of the two coasters in the park not constructed by Mack, Wodan is a classic wooden coaster experience themed around the Norse gods. Most of the queue line is located in an "underworld" hall featuring several scenes from Norse mythology and extensive lighting effects.

The actual coaster ride itself is, like most GCI wooden coasters, a rather twisted one with many small airtime hills and sudden turns. The coaster intersects with both Blue Fire and Atlantica SuperSplash.
9. Powered coaster offering an optional VR experience

Answer: Alpenexpress Enzian

The oldest of Europa Park's coasters, Alpenexpress Enzian was opened in 1984. It has an Austrian mine train theme and half of its track is located inside a hall featuring a sparkling dwarven gem mine. In addition to the normal ride, riders can also (for a small surcharge) enjoy this coaster in combination with a VR experience, based either on a short cartoon feature involving the Europa Park mascot or a flying simulation previewing the 2017 Voletarium flying theater attraction.
10. Spinning roller coaster with spiral lift hill

Answer: Euro-Mir

Built in 1997, Euro-Mir is the second Mack coaster in the park featuring a spiral lift hill where the trains are pulled upwards by a rotating cylinder in the middle of the track. Once trains complete this indoor lift hill (featuring a Russian Proton rocket in the center), the actual coaster ride begins with a few slow scenic curves above the park before dropping into a wild experience.

After the first drop and ascent, the cars spin one last time so that each rider has both a forward and a backward experience.
