Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Hunter Zolomon was a criminal profiler. What is his codename?

Answer: Zoom

Zolomon thought that Wally West didn't take superheroics seriously, and became jealous of his speed. He tried to use a cosmic treadmill, which backfired and turned him into Zoom. Zoom can change time that is relative to him, giving him the effects of super-speed. Zolomon first appeared in 2001 in "The Flash: Secret Files and Origins" #3. He became Zoom in 2003 in "The Flash" #197.
2. Girder's body is made of which metal?

Answer: Iron

Girder's body begins to rust when exposed to oxygen, making this super-strong brute easy to defeat. He often acts lewdly and makes unwarranted advances on female allies, which lands him in hot water many times. He first appeared in "Flash: Iron Heights" in 2001.
3. Which job did Mick Rory have when he worked with the circus?

Answer: He was a fire eater

Mick Rory doesn't suffer from pyromania-he enjoys every minute of it! He burned down his own house, his friend's house (after locking his friend inside), and the circus at which he worked. Rory later went straight, but even later reformed and killed Bart Allen, along with other Rogues. He first appeared in "Flash" #140, debuting in November 1963.
4. Hartley Rathaway was born blind.

Answer: False

Rathaway was born deaf, not blind. His father's immense wealth helped to cure him and Hartley became deeply interested in sound. Turning to crime, he became the Pied Piper, later reforming and coming out of the closet. He first appeared in "The Flash" issue 106, debuting in May of 1959.
5. There have been three Reverse-Flashes. That is, villains who oppose the Flash and have super-speed. Which hero is not a Reverse-Flash?

Answer: The Blur

Zoom, Professor Zoom, and the Rival are all Reverse-Flashes, and each have been major enemies of one Flash. The Rival menaced Jay Garrick, Professor Zoom fought Barry Allen, and Zoom tried to best Wally West. The Blur is a superhero from DC Comics. The Rival debuted in 1949 in "Flash Comics" #104. Professor Zoom burst onto the scene in 1963 in "The Flash" #139. Zoom appeared in 2003, in "The Flash" #197.
6. Leonard Snart had an abusive father.

Answer: True

Leonard Snart would later become Captain Cold, wielding two guns that could freeze objects to absolute zero. He has been bested by the Flash many times, but always returns to cause more mayhem. Snart first appeared in "Showcase" #8, June 1957.
7. What is Weather Wizard's real name?

Answer: Mark Mardon

Weather Wizard used to have a wand that manipulated the weather, but he later internalized the ability. Just as both his codename and real name are alliterative, his son's name, Josh Jackham, is alliterative. Weather Wizard first appeared in "Flash" #110, December 1959-January 1960.
8. The son of the original Captain Boomerang, Owen Mercer has which superpower?

Answer: Speed bursts

Mercer is the second Captain Boomerang, and worked with the Rogues for a time. He later reformed and joined the Outsiders. He has limited super-speed, able to run quickly for short periods of time. Mercer first appeared in "Identity Crisis" #3, in October 2004.
9. Shade is an enigmatic fellow. Which actor served as the basis for Shade?

Answer: Jonathan Pryce

Traditionally a Flash villain, Shade was fleshed out by James Robinson for use in his "Starman" series. To do this, he based the anti-hero off of English actor Jonathan Pryce. Pryce has appeared in "Brazil" onscreen and "Miss Saigon" onstage. Shade first appeared in "Flash Comics" #33, debuting in th 1940's.
10. Which Rogue came up with a plan to kill Bart Allen?

Answer: Inertia

Inertia is Bart's clone, who also has super-speed. He was aged slowly, so that he could have more knowledge and wisdom than Bart, who was aged rapidly. He is romantically linked to Sun Girl, his teammate in Titans East. Inertia first appeared in the fiftieth issue of "Impulse" in July of 1999.
