Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Andre Gower was in all the "Tiger Beat" and "Bop" magazines for a short time, in what 80s television show did he star?

Answer: Mr. President

Andre Gower was in three short lived shows, "Fathers and Sons," "Mr. President," and "Baby Makes Five." I only remember "Mr. President." It was a sitcom about the first family. Andre played Nick Tresch, son of the President, Samuel Arthur Tresch. The show also starred Conrad Bain, Madeline Kahn, and George C. Scott. It aired from 1987-1988 on Fox.
2. A fast food franchise had a commercial in the late 80s that challenged customers to sing the "Menu Song." If you were in the right restaurant, at the right time, and were asked to sing it (and could do it) you would win a million dollars! The "Menu Song" was the entire restaurant menu "Micro-Machine-Man" style. What fast food restaurant had this contest/commercial?

Answer: McDonald's

"Big Mac, McDLT, a Quarter Pounder with some cheese, Filet-O-Fish, a hamburger, a cheeseburger, a Happy Meal, McNuggets, tasty golden fries, regular or larger size, salad chef and garden, or a chicken salad, oriental, Big McBreakfast, Egg McMuffin, hot cakes or sausage maybe, bacon eggs in cheese sauce, danish, hashbrowns too, and for dessert hot apple pies, sundaes three varieties and chocolatey chip cookies and to drink a Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Orange, Sprite, coffee, decaf too, low fat milk and orange juice. I love McDonald's good time great taste and I get this all at one place!" It goes something like that, at least that is how I have always sung it. I memorized it when I was 11. Never won a million dollars though...
3. In a made for TV movie, William Shatner played an ex-convict who runs a cattle ranch for juvenile delinquents, and Tate Donovan played one of the boys sent there. What is the name of this 1985 drama?

Answer: Northbeach and Rawhide

William Shatner played Rawhide MacGregor, and Tate Donovan played Sean Connelly. I remember Tate's character got into trouble because of his older brother, played by Chris Penn. Their father was played by Chris Penn's real life father Leo Penn. Lori Loughlin (Becky from "Full House") also starred as Candy Cassidy. I had this movie on a tape my aunt gave me and I watched it 100 times.

It was a really good movie and I wish I could get my hands on a copy of it.
4. In a 1979 movie, some kids find a box of money in the nearby woods, they come back later and find a body. No one believes them and no one helps them so they solve the mystery themselves. This movie starred George Kennedy, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Ernest Borgnine, Elke Sommer, Lyle Alzado, Lisa Whelchel, and was narrated by Orson Wells. What is the name of this movie?

Answer: The Double McGuffin

I watched this movie on laserdisk! This movie was written and directed by Joe Camp, the creator and director of "Benji." I remembered it as they found a thumb in a box at some point, but I must be mistaken.
5. What movie is about a police officer, who gets super powers from a nuclear explosion, but loses them when he sees something red?

Answer: Super Fuzz

I loved this movie, granted I was probably 5 or 6 when I watched it. Terence Hill played Dave Speed, a.k.a. "Super Fuzz." It came out in 1980 and also starred Ernest Borgnine.
6. What 1984 movie, starring Henry Thomas (of "E.T." fame), is about an 11-year-old boy receiving a disk containing top secret data?

Answer: Cloak and Dagger

Henry Thomas starred as Davey, Dabney Coleman played his father and his imaginary friend Jack Flack.
7. Now, I am pretty sure other people remember this show (there is a quiz or two about it on this site). Set in the early 60s, a rich man adopts several teenage orphan girls. What is the name of this show?

Answer: Rags to Riches

The show played great 50s & 60s music, like "Rockin' Robin" and the Everly Brothers. Tisha Campbell ("My Wife and Kids" and "Martin") played one of the Foley girls. Joseph Bologna played Nick Foley (the dad). The show aired from 1987-1988.
8. A married couple give up their careers to run a daycare center in their home. This show starred Doug Sheehan, Linda Kelsey, Christopher Daniel Barnes, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Thora Birch, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Do you remember the name?

Answer: Day by Day

Christopher Daniel Barnes played the teenage son, he helped out with the daycare and had a major crush on Courtney Thorne-Smith. Doug Sheehan and Linda Kelsey played the married couple. Thora Birch played their young daughter Molly. The show aired from 1988-1989.
9. Brian Keith and Daniel Hugh Kelly starred in an action series as a judge and an ex-convict, what is the name of this show?

Answer: Hardcastle and McCormick

Brian Keith played retired judge, Hardcastle. Over his career he had to dismiss many cases due to legal technicalities. Now that he is retired he sets out to bust those guilty people, who were wrongly acquitted with the help of McCormick, a man he once sent to prison. The show aired from 1983-1986.
10. Okay, I am fairly certain that I am the only one who remembers this short lived 80s show. A family, with 2 sons and 1 daughter, accidentally goes through a portal into another dimension. In each episode they travel through strange lands on their journey to find a way home. What is the name of this show?

Answer: Otherworld

"Otherworld" was a cool show but apparently I was the only one who liked it as nobody remembers it and it was cancelled after 8 episodes. It was on the air in 1985 . The show starred Sam Groom, Gretchen Corbett, Tony O'Dell ("Head of the Class") and Jonathan Banks. Each episode they were in a different land, one land outlawed families, another was run by Amazon type women. Corey Allen (Buzz from "Rebel Without a Cause") and Paul Michael Glaser are listed as directors. (IMDB)
