"Jailhouse Rock" was released in 1957, and was directed by Richard Thorpe. It was about a teenager who was sent to prison for manslaughter. When he was released he became a rock star. The movie starred Elvis Presley and Judy Tyler.

Elvis acquired Rising Sun in 1966, from a nearby stable. Elvis thought he was the most beautiful palomino he ever saw. Sun was trained for horse shows, and demanded a lot of attention.

Elvis was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935. His brother, Jesse Garon was born first, but was stillborn.

On October 16, 1954, Elvis made his first appearance the "Louisiana Hayride," a live Saturday night country music radio show, which originated in Shreveport, Louisiana. The appearance went over so well, that in November 1954, Elvis was offered a one year contract for 52 Saturday night appearances. It was during Elvis' time with the "Hayride" that he met Colonel Tom Parker.

Vernon Elvis Presley was born on April 10, 1916, in Fulton, Mississippi. Vernon had a small, uncredited part in the 1957 movie "Loving You," which starred his son, and he had a guest appearance on an episode of "Hee Haw," which aired on January 7, 1978.

He appeared on the episode to honor his son, who died several months before. Sadly, Vernon died of a heart attack on June 16, 1979, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Elvis' maid, whome he nicknamed "Alberta VO5," was with him until the day he died. Before Elvis moved Priscilla into Graceland, VO5 was run ragged from waiting on Elvis' entourage. However, after Priscilla moved in, VO5's workload became a lot easier when Priscilla reorganized Graceland's kitchen, and set down a policy of having one menu per meal. The policy was sanctioned by Vernon.
