The Tidal Wave did not debut until the 1978 season at Great America in Gurnee. The Tidal Wave opened in the 1977 season at the Santa Clara park.

In 1980, the Turn of The Century coaster was rebuilt. Two vertical loops were added, as well as some very cool themed effects. In 2007, the Demon operated in both Great America parks.
