Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Kristy Swanson (as Buffy Summers)

Answer: Sarah Michelle Gellar

Kristy Swanson was the original Buffy Summers who learned of her destiny to hunt vampires in 1992's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

The film was turned into a successful TV series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar as the cheerleader-turned-vampire slayer that ran from 1997 until 2003.
2. Donald Sutherland (as Benjamin Franklin 'Hawkeye' Pierce)

Answer: Alan Alda

Donald Sutherland was the wonderful, wisecracking Dr. Benjamin Franklin 'Hawkeye' Pierce in the 1970 film "M*A*S*H," set during the Korean Conflict and based on the 1968 book, "MASH - A Novel About Three Army Doctors" by Richard Hooker.

Not only was the original book turned into a series of 15 books by Hooker, the movie was turned into a series with Alan Alda in the same lead role. It was highly successful, lasting ten full seasons from 1972 until 1983.
3. Julia Stiles (as Katarina 'Kat' Stratford)

Answer: Lindsey Shaw

Julia Stiles starred with the late Heath Ledger in the 1999 adaptation of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew," called "10 Things I Hate About You." The film was a moderate success, and ten years later an attempt was made to recreate it for the small screen.

Lindsey Shaw reprised the role of Katarina "Kat" Stratford in a less-than-successful season that was lasted twenty episodes in 2009 and 2010 before being cancelled due to low ratings.
4. Matthew Broderick (as Ferris Bueller)

Answer: Charlie Schlatter

Matthew Broderick played the the lovable slacker Ferris Bueller as he decides to take a day off from school and calamity ensues. The 1986 film was of course entitled, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

They tried to recapture the magic of that movie with a series starring Charlie Schlatter in the same role, under the pretense that the show portrayed Bueller's 'real life,' from which the movie had been loosely based. This show, entitled simply, "Ferris Bueller," lasted one season from 1990 to 1991.
5. Jennifer Grey (as Frances 'Baby' Houseman)

Answer: Melora Hardin

"Dirty Dancing" (1987) was another one of those magical '80s movies that really were more than the sum of their parts. Jennifer Grey (who didn't know how to dance before the movie) played the role of Frances 'Baby' Houseman in the coming-of-age story.

Just one year later, 'Baby' was back in a slightly different role (this time her dad owned the camp, instead of just vacationing there), portrayed by Melora Hardin. The show did not last long, getting cancelled after just 11 episodes (1988 to 1989).
6. Bruce Willis (as James Cole)

Answer: Aaron Stanford

Bruce Willis portrayed the time-travelling James Cole in the 1995 film "12 Monkeys" as he tried to trace the origins of a deadly virus that will wipe out most of the human race in the future he comes from.

The successful film was adapted into a successful TV series that ran for four seasons (2015-2018) with Aaron Stanford reprising the role of James Cole.
7. Sandra Bullock (as Angela Bennett)

Answer: Brooke Langton

Sandra Bullock played the role of the harried Angela Bennett in the (very dated) 1995 film, "The Net," which saw her life turn to a shambles when all records of her life are erased and she is pursued after unearthing a conspiracy.

Brooke Langton took on the same role in the short-lived series of the same name that lasted one season (1998 to 1999).
8. James Spader (as Daniel Jackson)

Answer: Michael Shanks

In the 1994 film, "Stargate," James Spader took on the role of Daniel Jackson, an Egyptologist and linguist who had certain theories on the origins of the pyramids.

The movie release was a moderate success, but nothing quite like the franchise it spawned. The first series to follow the movie was "Stargate SG-1," in which the character of Daniel Jackson was reprised by Michael Shanks. That series went for ten seasons (1997 to 2007).
9. Alicia Silverstone (as Cher Horowitz)

Answer: Rachel Blanchard

Alicia Silverstone played the part of Cher Horowitz in 1995's "Clueless," an adaptation of the novel, "Emma" by Jane Austen.

The very successful film was adapted for the small screen as a sitcom from 1996 until 1999 with Rachel Blanchard reprising the role of the rich and popular Beverley Hills teen.
10. Ben Affleck (as Matthew 'Matt' Murdock)

Answer: Charlie Cox

Ben Affleck brought the Marvel superhero Daredevil to life in the movie of the same name in 2003.

The blind hero with his extra-acute other senses (and his alter ego lawyer Matthew 'Matt' Murdock) were portrayed by Charlie Cox in an even grittier rendition through the made-for-Netflix series that ran for three seasons (2015 to 2018) before Marvel (and Disney Plus) decided to go a different direction.
