Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many participants received byes?

Answer: 3

The Undertaker and Kane both received byes in the first round which meant the two would meet each other in the quarter-finals. Stone Cold Steve Austin won his first round match and was slated to meet either X-Pac or Steven Regal in the quarter-finals.

Unfortunately, Regal and X-Pac were eliminated when both were counted out, which gave Austin a bye. Austin was the first man to qualify for the semi-finals.
2. Who did Mankind face in his first round match?

Answer: Dwayne Gill

Mankind had a mystery opponent going into "Survivor Series". It was revealed to be longtime jobber Dwayne Gill better known as 'Gillberg'. Mankind easily defeated Gill.
3. The Rock was supposed to face Triple H in his first round match but Triple H did not show up. Who did Vince McMahon name to be Triple H's replacement?

Answer: The Big Bossman

Triple H was recovering from a knee injury and Vince McMahon appointed The Big Bossman as his replacement. It is interesting to note that Bossman was already eliminated when he was disqualified in his match against Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Rock defeated him in about 5 seconds. It was so fast that Jerry "The King" Lawler didn't get a chance to "smell what The Rock was cooking".
4. Mankind faced Al Snow in the quarter-finals. During the match, who was revealed to have taken "Mr. Socko"?

Answer: Vince McMahon

Al Snow had qualified for this match by defeating Jeff Jarrett in the first round. During the last few weeks, Mankind was looking for his sock puppet companion, "Mr. Socko". "Mr. Socko" was revealed to be around the head of Al Snow's mannequin head appropriately named "Head", however, it was not Al Snow that had taken the sock but Vince McMahon. During the match, it was revealed that Vince had stolen "Mr. Socko" to manipulate Mankind who appeared to be Vince's favorite to win the tournament. Mankind defeated Al Snow after applying the "mandible claw" with the sock.
5. The Undertaker defeated Kane to be entered into the semi-finals.

Answer: True

The Undertaker defeated Kane after he used the "Tombstone Piledriver". Paul Bearer also held Kane's legs down to prevent him from kicking out.
6. The Rock faced Ken Shamrock in a quarter-final match. The Rock defeated Shamrock thanks to the interference of which wrestler?

Answer: The Big Bossman

Ken Shamrock had qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating Goldust in the first round. He faced The Rock in the next round. The winner of this match would face The Undertaker in the semi-finals. The Big Bossman came down to the ring and attempted to give Shamrock his nightstick, however, The Rock intercepted it and used the nightstick to hit Shamrock and win the match.
7. The first semi-final match was between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mankind. Who was the referee for this match?

Answer: Mike Chioda

Austin was favoring his ribs as he was assaulted by The Big Bossman with a nightstick after Austin had won their first round match. Vince McMahon, Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco and WWE Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter came down to the ring to observe the match. Austin had hit the "Stone Cold Stunner" on Mankind but Vince had jumped out of his wheelchair to stop the count.

He also punched Chioda in the face leaving no referee to count the pinfall. Austin hit another "Stone Cold Stunner" on Mankind but as new referee Shane McMahon was counting to three, he stopped and gave Austin the middle finger. Gerald Brisco hit Austin with a chair to allow Mankind to win the match.
8. The second semi-final match featured The Rock against The Undertaker. It was due to The Big Bossman's interference that The Rock was able to get the win.

Answer: False

The Rock faced off against The Undertaker. The winner would face Mankind in the finals. Even though Bossman got involved in the match, it was the interference of Kane that cost The Undertaker the match. Kane had came to the ring and "choke slammed" The Rock. This resulted in referee Earl Hebner, disqualifying The Undertaker for Kane's interference.
9. The Rock defeated Mankind to become the new WWE Champion using what finisher?

Answer: "The Sharpshooter"

The Rock defeated Mankind with the "Sharpshooter", however, Mankind had not submitted but Vince McMahon ordered the bell to rung and The Rock declared the winner. This was eerily similar to what happened to Bret Hart at "Survivor Series" 1997.
10. After the match was over, who came down to the ring to "congratulate" The Rock on his victory?

Answer: Stone Cold Steve Austin

After Vince and Shane McMahon had screwed Stone Cold in his match, they appeared to have left the arena. Austin followed suit and hijacked a car to chase after them, however, this was ruse as the McMahon's never left the arena. As they were celebrating with The Rock, Austin appeared and proceeded to go after The Rock.
