Bobby joined the Mid-South Wrestling territory and was paired up with Dennis Condrey. Bobby along with Dennis recreated the team of "The Midnight Express". Dennis had previously wrestled with Randy Rose and Norvell Austin as "The Midnight Express", but the team disbanded. Jim Cornette was the manager of the team. Before long Bobby and Dennis won the Mid-South Tag Team Championship from Magnum T.A. and Mr. Wrestling II.

Jim would carry the racket with him to the ring. He used it on several occasions to help his team win bouts. The tennis racket was supposed to be loaded with something. It was never revealed what if anything was in the racket. Jim Cornette was a key member of the team. I recall seeing him doing interviews and he would always impress me.

He was a great mouth piece for the quiet team he managed.

"The Midnight Express" and "Rock 'n' Roll Express" had feuded earlier in Mid-South Wrestling. They had traded the titles back and forth before Bobby and Dennis left the territory. As soon as "The Midnight Express" joined the Jim Crockett Promotions they resumed the feud with the "Rock 'n' Roll Express".

They won the titles on February 2, 1986 and defended them a little over six moths. They eventually lost the titles back to the "Rock 'n' Roll Express" in August of 1986.

Dennis and Randy were the first two men to team under "The Midnight Express". Soon after leaving the NWA behind he teamed again with Randy. The pair were managed by Paul E. Dangerously. They defeated the team of Bill Dundee and Jerry Lawler for the titles. I recall on several interviews how Paul would always refer to hios team as the originals. Paul very much like Jim was a great mouthpiece for the team.

When the two teams started to feud I was very excited. I have always been a great fan of Bobby and Dennis, but not so much of Stan.

This feud had a great amount of promise; too bad it didn't follow through.

"The Midnight Express" received a first round bye. They wrestled and defeated Sam Houston and Nelson Royal in the second round. They were defeated in the quarterfinals by "The Road Warriors". "The Road Warriors" would go on to win the entire tournament. The Jim Crockett, Sr. Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament was held in New Orleans on April 19, 1986.

Answer: WCCW American Tag Team Championship

"The Midnight Express" defeated the team of Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers for the WCCW American Tag Team Championship. Their title reign was short lived. They were stripped of the title due to outside interference on the part of their manager Jim Cornette. "The Fantastics" won the titles back in May of 1985.

Dennis and Bobby were definitely skilled ring technician. They had several finishing moves, but the rocket launcher was the one they used most. Bobby was the flyer in the group. He would get on the top turnbuckle and basically Dennis would throw him off his shoulders onto their opponent.

Answer: Bobby and Stan attacked Rick and Robert on their way to the ring.

"The Rock 'n' Roll Express" was on their way to the ring to defend against "The Horseman". The challengers were Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson. "The Midnight Express" attacked Ricky and Robert from behind. They made easy work for Tully and Arn. "The Horseman" easily won the titles that evening. The feud between "The Rock 'n' Roll Express" and "The Midnight Express" raged on after that.

Bobby was left without a partner when Dennis left. Stan Lane was chosen as his replacement. "The Midnight Express" captured the NWA and United States Heavyweight Tag Team Titles with this pairing. I didn't think this pairing was going to work at first, but I was wrong. Stan always seemed like he was really uncomfortable around Jim Cornette. Jim liked to hug Bobby before the matches.

He tried to hug Stan as well, but Stan was having no part of that.

"The Midnight Express" were already the NWA United States Tag Team Champions when they won the NWA World Tag Team Championship. They were only allowed to hold one title so they choose the NWA World Tag Team Title. "The Fantastics" won the tiles in a tournament. "The Midnight Express" held the United States Titles on three different occasions.

They were also the longest reigning United States Tag Team Champions as they held the titles from May of 1987 to April of 1988.
